Tuned in at 11 last night for David Jacobs only to hear a song by The
Lightning Seeds being played.
Thought it was my DAB on the blink then Patrick Lunt said sorry we were not able to bring you the news.
At 12 it was fine.
Any idea what happened?

Maybe there was no actual news to report? Or maybe they lost the script that it was written on. Or maybe Patrick said "sod this, I cant read this rubbish for the 6th time tonight, lets put on the Lightning Seeds instead"

Strange choice for a filler - was it just something they had lying around?

Seemed strange to go from 30's big band into easy listening Mr.jacobs and link it with The Lightning seeds.
Surely a Sinatra or Ella Fitzgerald track would have blended better.
maybe Patrick can't work the old jukebox system and had to play whatever was at the top of the list!!! Razz Razz Razz

The emergency tape has never been noted for its subtlety or appropriateness.

In which case, they'll probably play X-Ray Specs' "Oh Bondage, Up Yours", next time.... eminently suitable for the 11pm news slot on a Sunday evening.... Rolling Eyes Laughing

They seem to have more trouble now with the new studios than the old ones. Maybe someone couldn't find the recorded part on the computer and lost it in the system? Laughing

Capital Radio have two systems in one studio, and go over to the old one if it breaks down. I suppose the music is in the system for the new one and hand inputed on the old one?
