(Didn't see the Panorama programme tonight, though.)
I work in the NHS, for my sins. I've been sworn at and verbally threatened by members of the public more times than I care to mention. Colleagues have been threatened with violence. One clever person once made a bomb threat on the 'phone when he didn't get what he wanted. He got a shock when the police came calling a few minutes later - even though we knew it was probably a hoax, we thought it was wise to wreck his day as well. He rang us later, apologising, saying "it was only a joke" - how we laughed when he told us he'd been a guest of Strathclyde Police for four hours.
Unfortunately, nowadays, abuse, intolerance and impatience are all part of the job. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”
