I certainly will general, when I can listen, must try and get those long distance jobs that take at least an hour and a half driving to get there! Half managed it this morning and same tomorrow, I really enjoyed what I heard this morning, the boy done good. Was it my imagination or was there a little more rapport between Johnnie & Bobby this morning?
BB |
I thought so too BB, perhaps she's a bit like Lynn, suspicious of men? Loved the GMT pips this morning! |

Rest assured Bobbi P does not like older men-eg Messrs Walker and the wrinkly has been called Ken Bruce.
She is more comfortable in the company of younger men. |

I was waiting for your message Toggy
(it's nothign against you - really)
I don't have much choice - I have the radio as my alarm (rather than a mad buzzing noise which would just frighten the life out of me)
and I get fed up of adverts on commerical stations - and anyway I haven't quite got to grips with the Newcastle stations yet - still haven't reset the DAB |

I just knew we wouldn't have the same opinion on this one.
I don't intentionally provoke people - I think it's a bit silly and in fact really annoying |

What I can't stand about TW is how he's always making out he's hard done by and the BBC is rubbish. He is one of their (our?) contractors and gets paid £800k for 2 hours work, minimal effort and even driven to and from home. What the hell has he got to moan about? It's a bit like CE was circa 1997 |

Obviously you dont understand his sense of humour. Since when should we worship the BBC for putting out inane tv and news bulletins.
Honestly this hapens everytime Sir Terry goes on holiday. These Wogan-a-phobes come out from their hiding places and start attacking the greatest living broadcaster of our generation. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

*sigh* Terry has been employed by the BBC in one form or another for over 35 years now, do you really think he hates them? of course he dosen't. He gives his opinions on certain shows the BBC put out which are not to his liking, as a licence payer he is entitled to do that.
£800k a year is a lot but when compared with footballers and actors it's not so much.
Terry does a lot of work for numerous charities (not just Children in need) for which he receives no payment and choses not to make a song and dance about. He actually works a lot harder than most people realise.
As I said before if you don't like Terry don't listen to him and leave those of us that do alone to enjoy him. |

Newbie here, hello R2OK...
I usually have to suffer radio 1 but my oppo was doing late shift today so it was R2 from 8 o'clock till home time. Great to hear Johnnie and even better to use listen again to hear all the stuff I missed because of distractions like telephone calls. _________________ treasure

Was looking through some of the defunct threads here and saw there was one about Ray Moore. He got me switched on to R2 when I got totally peed off with R1 and local radio _________________ treasure

1. terry could just not do all that charity work and tell the beeb to give his excesive salery to the charities instead (it is excessive, whether you compare it with footballers or not - it's still insane) Why should we phone in children in need when he is earning all that - so hypocritical
2. we are allowed to express our opinions, it isn;t a Tog-State (re; leave those of us alone who do) - if you can't put up with a little discussion, maybe the boards aren't the best place to be

I like STW and listen to him on my endless train journey to work. I also notice other people laughing at the same time as I do, so we are all in it together.
For STW holiday replacements in my opinion Alex Lester, loved him.
JW, OK, but not quite right. Keep thinking (He's Great! He's on! Johnnie Walker) |

Well, lets not get too serious about this, Terry is an institution, some say he should be in one, not me I might add, however, I do prefer Johnnie in this slot and shall enjoy the rest of his stand in, sit in or holiday cover for Terry. I don't dislike Wake Upto Wogan, just kinda accept it and listen, it's only radio and not a life or death situation when all said and done.

It's highly likely he does donate generous sums to the myriad of local charities he supports but also feels it is helpful to donate his time and skills to them as well.
Terry is not a charity, nobody can be expected to work for nothing however much they earn. I would imagine he agreed to his excessive salary (I agree it is excessive) with his children and grandchildren in mind.
I don't blame him and other presenters like Ross, Moyles and even Steve wright for taking the salaries on offer, it is really the fault of those who are offering them in the first place. Lets be honest if someone came to you and with a big wodge of cash would you say no? I know I wouldn't!
