The sad news today of the death of Gareth Hunt from Pancreatic Cancer.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6449881.stm
A lot of years ago, I went to see Guys and Dolls at the Newcastle Theatre Royal - first time I'd seen this musical and I loved it so much, I went to see it another 9 times in 2 weeks!
Gareth played Nathan Detroit with barbara Windsor as Adelade.
Gareth was a great performer with excellent timing.
He was the Avenger I wanted to be as a kid, with karate kicks and all!
Rest in peace, Gareth - thank you for your entertaining us. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Agree Andy-very sad news indeed.
I thought Gareth was terrific in the Avengers- he was perrfectly cast as the sophiscated all action hero.

Sorry to hear about this I don't remember him in the New Avengers but I do remember seeing him in the coffee adverts.
65 is not very old in this day and age, bless his heart |

Toggy,
Grab some DVD's - well worth a watch, His character, Gambit (great name) was always chancing his arm with Purdy, well who wouldnt!
Still thinking about this one, more and more - growing up in 70's, people I saw on tv, people who were part of my culture are leaving us, very sad. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

I enjoyed the ones made in Britain, but the show jumped the shark when the show moved to Canadian locations.
I will always remember Gareth Hunt for the Nescafe commercials. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

yes, although the episode where they're trying to protect fingerprints on a battered old car is great fun - remember Purdy jumping on the roof to protect the prints as the car goes through a carwash?!! Mmm Mmm, shake that hair, Purdy _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |
