TV host Paul O’Grady has been offered £16MILLION to move to Sky One. The TV favourite’s contract with Channel 4 runs out at the end of the year — and Sky chiefs have already put in their bid.

Paul, 51, has two series of his hit teatime show left to make this year on his current deal.

Sky’s incredible offer will see him present AND produce the shows with his own production company Olga
===================
This would put him third in TV stars earnings behind Simon Cowell & Ross.

This is presumably part of the "large investment" they're making to justify screwing Virgin/NTL for the bigger fee to carry Sky One on cable and, shortly, to make it a subscription service on Freeview as well.

However I'd have thought the show has reached its sell-by date. Very few are improved, or even survive, a change of channel. O'Grady's managed it once but the words luck his and pushing spring to mind now.

Typical Sky - Find a programme that the people really like (Lost, 24, Stargate) buy it up for and extortionate amount of money, then charge everybody a large amount to see it. Run adverts on sky one about those poor folks with virgin media not being able to see their favourite shows, and bribe the rest of us to get others to seel their souls to Rupert Murdoch
