My cynicism gets in the way of my optimism.

Next thing you know someone will do a study that says that people are more optimistic when the sun shines and less optimistic when it is cloudy.

Realism just isn't enough these days, and I find myself with the teachings of Diogenes even more.

So this is good news for you, as old geezers are more optomistic Very Happy

You may have something to look forward to as you get older, you can hope anyway.

Definitely.
My wife turns the bedroom tv on in the mornings and I listen half asleep to the boring meanderings of the BBC Breakfast News until I can take no more!
How many years have we heard the same old rubbish about the NHS, schools, police, crime down, crime up, politicians spouting the same old tripe, the pounds up then it's down, it's your fault, it's their fault...

pessimistic, lathargic, cynical... that's me. Very Happy

I thought that I was an optimist but my hubby says I'm just naive.
I was recently very disappointed to discover that car salesmen ( as nice as they seem to be when selling a car) are not always telling the whole truth.

For example: my trade in car , he told me that it was old junk in a shabby state, not worth a thing and he was doing me a big favour to take it off my hands. He'd be lucky to get scrap value for it.

Reading the advert he has for my old car ... it says "A rare and superb example of this much sought after car, meticulously maintained and cared for by the previous mature lady owner....... Loads of other stuff about service history and features that aren't necessarily true.

Mature! He, was old enough to be my dad!
