I know this is a Radio 2 forum, but a thread or folder on other stations might be a good idea as none of us listens exclusively to Radio 2 (ok Scott maybe Wink )

I would be interested in an internet radio stations thread, as I increasingly listen to diverse stations online.

Some people may want to post on Radio London shows (I cant think of who that afternoon DJ is on that station Laughing )

WCLZ (Portland, Maine - 5 hours behind GMT) - good eclectic range of stuff - from 80s through to new releases (played the likes of the Decemberists and the Shins long before Bob Harris even did). They have a request hour from 9-10 (their time) each morning - have even had a couple of requests played myself.

Now that is a good idea.... Would a section in the coffee bar do? (TRying to keep the site as tidy as possibly from the outset.)

< EDIT - Meant a section in the rec centre > Very Happy

I sometimes listen to one word which is a kind of talking books station. Occasionally I listen to the local BBC station to get the weather and travel news.
At weekends I mostly listen to capital life, a bit naffI know but it's only for background noise.

Here are the other stations/presenters I often listen to:

Danny Baker on BBC London (my alternative to Steve Wright).

Mark Forrest on Classic FM or Simon Dale on Kiss 100 London (they are usually my alternatives to Chris Evans).

Norman Jay on BBC London (Sundays 6.00 - 8.00pm). My alternative to Sheridan Snooze on Miseries for You.

Virgin Radio (whoever is on seeing as they keep changing the presenters around) when I clean my car once every three weeks on a Sunday afternoon. Virgin is my alternative to Bland FM aka Sunday Radio 2.

Scott,

Yes, I listen to Danny baker as an alternative to SW also and on my way home I've started to tune into classic fm.I remember Danny from his Radio 1 days - what a laugh they used to have - anyone remember 'TURMOIL!!'

I'm finding I listen more to internet radio than Fm / DAB.

I listen to Richard Allinson (no surprise there, then) on BBC oxford on a Sunday morning.

I also listen to his show between 9-11 on BFBS - this is a great show, you would thin 2 hours really isn't enough but the output here is great.

Praise the listen again - most times the one on BFBS is better than Radio 2.

Hey Andy,

I have always been a great fan of Danny Baker and I thought he was a breath of fresh air at the weekends on Radio 1. I found Dave Lee Travis far too grim and boring. The trouble was, the pipe and slipper brigade frowned upon the likes of Danny Baker because he was brought in to target a younger age group. My Saturday lunchtimes have never been the same again since The Candy Man quit Radio 1 ten years ago now! Crying or Very sad

I do hope Lesley Douglas brings him to Radio 2; he's about the only presenter from her top 10 favourites that she hasn't yet tried on Radio 2 but I daresay it will happen. Hopefully, 2007 will be the year when Danny Baker is finally brought to Radio 2. He was my alternative to Sarah Kennedy when he fronted the BBC London breakfast show but was replaced with the cringe-making Jono Coleman in June 2005 when Baker defected to weekday afternoons.

Please bring Danny Baker to Radio 2, Lesley Douglas!

p.s I still miss Richard Allinson on Saturday afternoons. His former 3.30 - 6.30pm show was addictive! Very Happy

Yes, it was Scott - I taped a few of them so at least I can put them on when i want.

Agreed, let's give Danny a go - would be nice to be excited over a new presenter rather than thinking "for goodness sakes!!"

Cheers and goodnight - I'm being called away to finish watching "A night's tale!!"

Cover me, I'm going in.....

Danny Baker is the King od interactive radio; I've yet to come across anyone else who gets the listeners involved so much. This is the kind of show Radio 2 needs, a but of light-hearted humour and entertaining exchanges between The Canndy Man and his listeners. He also has an obscure taste in music - the playlist would fall into Radio 2's remit quite easily!

Right, good luck...I'll cover you! Laughing
