Wikipedia suggests its Edna Dore (with Wendy Richard as a candidate).

I wasn't convinced it was her. More like Wendy Richard to me.

Who cares? She's as daft and stupid as Steve Wright and the rest of his posse.

Don't think it's Wendy Richard. Just not her voice or manner, although I can hear a certain similarity.

The Old Woman is actually a card carrying (Actors Equity, that is) actress who has done commercial voice-overs and stuff in the past.

And no, she isn't Wendy Richards. How do I know?

This is going to be a really obvious answer, given the above statement, isn't it? Smile

Erm... is it you?

I've often thought the voice is put on to disguise the identity and real age - I don't think she's that old.

She's sprightly enough to get across London from wherever it is she comes from. Very Happy She does sound 70-80ish and doesn't sound like anyone putting on a voice to me.

I'd always assumed that she was Steve Wright's girlfriend. Couldn't understand what she was there for otherwise.

I have an issue with them calling her "Old Woman"---very disrespectful if you ask me! What's the problem with her using her actual name?

No, the "old woman" does genuinely remember life in the 1940s and is indeed a real person.

I'm led to believe her real name is Joyce.
