Re Mr Evans: it just goes to show that you CAN fool all of the people some of the time ( weekdays 5 - 7 pm)

Well done Chris. It just proves that if you ignore the begrudgers & whingers you can make a great radio show.

I'm sorry but how the hell did he win best music broadcaster? The first one I can just about agree with but not that.

It just goes to show that different people can have a completely different perception about what is and is not talent. So chris evans is in touch with his audience? He is certainly in touch with his own ego! As for Personality - the Most Annoying Personality, perhaps!

No awards will make me like listening to him.

Nobody is forcing you to do anything. I'm just amazed that a bunch of miserys have to emerge and bash him everytime he is given some due recognition for what he is done.

Actually I enjoy his show and as I said I think he deserved the personality award but not the music show one.

If that makes me a misery then so be it Rolling Eyes

Hmmm. Well done to Chris, but the fact he spent last week sarcastically calling Steve Wright the greatest living music DJ suggests he had an inkling he was going win. Fix...?

I do wish Chris well, I'm pleased for him and I honestly mean that. I was just shall we say, rather surprised that he won both awards.

I've never had any problem with Chris Evans' show and the awards justify R2 in hiring him in the eye of a storm of criticism.

I WAS WRONG--yes, I did just say that. Savour, for it won't happen often!!

Ian.

As soon as the opening bars of his jingle come on I reach for the off switch every evening at 5.05pm. It really is unbearable! How he can win such an award by treating his audience as if they are idiots is way beyond me......... Perhaps that really is what people want these days. Ah well, thats life.

This just goes to show that these Sony Awards are really not worth the scrap value of the plastic or whatever it is they are made out of. I've no doubt that Lesley Douglas would have had something to do with this, just as a means of justifying the most appalling decision she has ever made. I mean, how can you get rid of someone who has won a Sony Award even though he has manged to lose hundreds of thousands of listeners?

I had the pleasure of meeting the great Ken Bruce recently and after a lengthy discussion on music, Popmaster, and numerous other less musically based topics I remarked to him that his Sony Award was just around the corner. He laughingly replied "maybe in another 20 years perhaps". I hope to God he never receives one now as I feel these awards have lost any worth they may ever have had. You cannot put someone who has made a career out of being hyperactive and ginger alongside someone who gave as much to music and radio as John Peel.

Yes you can. There are things called "categories". Like for "radio personality" and "speech broadcaster" and "music presenter". Why do you expect everybody to be the same on radio? Would you eat the same thing for every meal, day after day?

And BTW he hasnt "manged to lose hundreds of thousands of listeners".

Even if evans had won all the sony awards his show still wouldn't appeal to me or many others that no longer listen, preferring something less inanely frantic. (though it would mean they'd wasted rather a lot of licence payers money)
