Yes, I enjoyed him. But he was nowt special and a million miles off Mark Radcliffe's standard.

I can't really say I enjoyed him much more than Steve Wright, who for all his faults has a certain energy that Allinson lacks.

Wink Love to myself but let's get an accurate picture. This is in reply to Mark, not Ian.

The problem with surveys and polls it only really comes as a yes or no. I suppose most people do like him as he's very popular with the listeners and Lesley knows this, but there isn't any room for him to have a regular show, as he's done most shows over the years and would look like he's going backwards.

Yes I did enjoy him, he can be sarcastic a little and more so now than the capital radio days, but hey thats his personality. Know doubt we will hear more of him as the DJ holidays creep up?

A revival of the old Saturday show, replacing Kermit, would be okay by me: I wouldn't consider it a backward step at all.

I prefer Wrighty Embarassed no offence meant to Allinson, he's ok and seems like a nice enough chap but I dunno, there's something lacking in his delivery. I wish him well though, maybe he'll get a regular slot one day.

Y'know all your comments are very fair - Richard has been on R2 a lot over the past month and the boards are filling up with posts, I guess the reason I started this pole was to see what you all thought.

I never listened to Capitol radio (couldn't get it!) so I have nothing to compare against - interesting comments though - I thought overall the shows were laid back, enjoyable - great interviews and the guests sounded genuinely to get on with Richard.

Thanks all.

I quite enjoyed Richard this week.
He actually lets his guests talk, and doesn't get rid of them after about three minutes.
Also he didn,t play exactly the same set of records EVERY SINGLE DAY.
If Steve Wright could rectify the above mentioned faults (plus the oldies) he would be one of my favourite DJ's.
But I can't see that happening as I think his ego has become too big
So I would have to say I would prefer Richard over Steve

Actually, Gaz I agree with you on the above. He did a good job with the guest interviews.

Thanks Mark Smile

He's my opinion (calm down, it's only a forum Wink )

Steve offers a format I got bored with in 1980 (when I heard factoids repeated), Richard offers a cheesy LIR / old R1 style which should have been left in the 1980's...

Not much difference there..

Steve reads factoids presumably out of a book (or similar), Richard reads out surveys, facts etc presumably out of the papers / magazines...

Not much difference there..

They both think they are witty...

Not much difference there..

Richard plays some better music,

advantage to Richard...

Steve does Ask Elvis

advantage to Steve...

Steve only reads out e-mails with 'love the show', Richard reads out loads of text / emails (not sure if he used the standard filling technique of asking listeners to text in on some drivel topic this week, I wasn't listening enough)

Not much difference there..

I can only stand one day of Steve a week (and get bored after 2 hours) but 30mins of Richard is enough for me hitting the OFF button

So a win for Steve from me...

so for the poll No. Smile

I dont enjoy Steve Wright so I dont listen. I can listen to Richard Allinson a bit longer than I can bear Wright, but really the question is like being asked by an executioner whether you would prefer hanging or the electric chair. Laughing Laughing

To replace the ejector seat that she uses regularly on underperforming presenters?

I didnt listen much to be honest. If you dont like something there are loads of alternatives, so Wright or Allinson could occupy that spot permanently and I wouldnt care much. I dont listen to Vine either but find plenty of other things to tune into instead.
