Why not, it's got to be better than showtunes, cat noises etc.

I think it's nice to have a competition, it was a good prize too if you like horses and stuff.

But does it beat bagpipe music everytime there is a road accident in Scotland? Laughing

I'm only wondering what the purpose of the competition is that's all? Is it for some special reason or just a normal thing? My sleepy head cant quite grasp what its in aid of?

It's probably just that Richard is trying to do something different, I vaguely remember goody-bags doing a comp last time he sat in.

Monday and Tuesday shows were just fine, but too short. I felt he was just getting into his stride by about 0720 on Monday then the programme was nearly finished.

Richard's been fab so far this week. The competition is great..... on Monday, I had no-clue what the answers may be .. so I poked hubby in the back when I took his tea up after I'd got ready for work.... and said who are these three singing then... I knew one of them:... now hubby ( bless him) is very rarely wrong when it comes to music and stuff, so I took his answers at face value and e-mailed them in thinking ... these are the winners......... he said ( for the two I didn't know) Tom Jones( the welsh one) and Dean Martin!!!!! ...... ... they were of course completely wrong.

When I took hubby to task about it, over dinner on Monday night, he made the lame excuse that he was half asleep!

Rachel, maybe he was half asleep, I know I am until I've had my second cup of coffee (somwhere between Gilberdyke and Howden).

Yep Geddon... I should make allowances.Smile . I'm a morning person you see, .. up with the larks, bright as a button; but come 8:30 tonight I'll be curled up on the sofa, more than half asleep ... by about 9:30, hubby will carry me up to bed muttering something about how heavy I am and how he stayed up later than this when he was 10 years old... Smile

Nod and Ernie-Why do you listen if you don't like Richard.

Is your radio stuck on Radio 2?-turn it off or over when Richard is on and then you won't constantly have to come on here telling us all how much you dislike the listening experience.

I don't particularly like/warm to Chris Evans but do tune in sometimes but I DON'T keep coming on here saying how average/ordinary he is-people are not interested in hearing the same negative messages over and over again.

I must be thick today.

I did not interpret your message as anything but negative-I must be missing something.

I would always hope that when Richard signs off from any of his shows that I would be thinking "over so soon"- and hence looking forward to the next time you are on. That is a sign to me of a good presenter.

I'm sure you feel that way come 7pm each weekday evening when Chris says good night all.

Johnnie did ask him " did you have a late night" yes... So that was the reason for Tuesdays show.

Ernie/Nod-Interesting responses.

Simply put NO.

You are the only 2 (Ernie less so but Noodie big time) who try to continually goad me/wind me up/annoy the hell out of me.

I'm sure I'm not the only one either who feels this way.

Why should I let you gag me.

I'm a big Richard Allinson fan and have been for 25 years plus. This message board is about open opinion-so as long as I am not rude etc I should be allowed to post messages about anything I like including posts about RA. You don't own this board in any shape or form.

If you don't want me on here then say so. However note I never have been warned /banned about any postings made to this message board.

Believe it not I actually like being a member of this board and therefore so see no reason why I can't contibute to it if I so choose.

I know there are an abundance of threads about Richard Allinson here but they are not really doing any harm are they? Ok I've may have mentioned it from time to time but I would like to think my comments were taken with th spirit I intended them to be.

Mark is a big fan of RA, I think Laughing so it's only natural he would want to defend him in much the same way I always support Terry.
It takes all sorts to make a world so perhaps a little more give from both sides of the argument would make things a bit nicer. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and disagreeing dosen't necessarily make it right or wrong either way.

Oh Mark. I've no problems with you. Its only harmless banter on this thread. There's no malice, but I see no harm in some light hearted ribbing of Dickie's eccentricities.

Mark,

Don't be silly. I have been reading this thread and it is all banter and having a joke what Rich says etc etc.. I would think if Rich read this he would except we are messing around.

I hope you will stay and less of you leaving.

A group hug maybe (and I 'd give Nod a sly slap on the side!)

Maybe when this board is 1 year old we should arrange a proper get together-it certainly would be interesting if we were to all meet up/put faces to names etc and to shake each other by the throat etc. Probably would never happen but John Wright strikes me as a bit of a leader-I think such a gathering would be most interesting. How about it John.

I would certainly be a carrier of gifts eg-a tee shirt for Ernie with RA's picture on it and a caption -RA- You are the soundtrack to my day, maybe a tee shirt for Lady B, -I love a good jingle to get me through the day, something for Rachel to do with Alex Lester etc etc.

Such a gathering might be fun.

Y'know, mark - driving home tonight I was thinking similar thoughts. Although, I do think it may be impossible to get us all together ( oh, by the way - if anyones interested 5.06pm was exactly when I switched Evans off Laughing ).

I'm a RA fan to (Nooooo??!) but I've been laughing at this thread too - no harm meant as far as I can see, I guess we're winning most of the board over.

Course, if we ever do get us all together we may end up not speaking afterwards......which dj should we book for the disco? Richard Allinson anyone.....? Wink

I too have entertained similar thoughts of organising an R2OK get-together in the future - I'd certainly be up for travelling down to the Midlands or whatever. Andyandy and Julia, you're welcome to a lift.... Smile

I'm not at my best at 7am but today I managed to identify correctly all three singers of Love Letters--Alison Moyet, Ketty Lester and Elvis Presley.

Yesterday I thought Will Young was Jose Feliciano!

Re get-together, not a bad idea in principle but doubt if my diary is likely to be very accommodating--we'll have to see.

But, having made a failed attempt to do similar in the heyday of the Classic FM boards, I say--be warned that the number expressing interest and then pulling out later could be considerable. And DO NOT pay a deposit to anyone at any potential venue if you can possibly avoid doing so, unless you fancy losing it later.

Ian.
