Media regulator Ofcom has ruled that Celebrity Big Brother breached its code of conduct over the race row which dogged the series in January.
The watchdog found that Channel 4 made "serious editorial misjudgements" in its handling of the incidents involving Indian actress Shilpa Shetty.

It's taking Ofcom all this time to make this statement? |

Could it be trying to high profile Ofcoms powers in the build up to the show starting again next week - a reminder to C4 to watch it.
It start's again next Wednesay you know, up against The Apprentice....any guesses which one I'll be watching? _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

What a bloody disgrace! Are they really that desperate for ratings that common sense and compassion go out the window!! Shame on you. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Its a very detailed report. Have you read it in full? If you did, you would see that they reviewed many hours of untransmitted footage and also interviewed most of the staff on the programme to establish what the organisational failures were.
I didnt hear any of Radio 2's BB stars on yesterday to defend the show. Where's Kermit? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

They are both rubbish. The Apprentice has nothing to do with how a real business works. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Well I doubt the report is an advertisment for the show. I would suggest that you read it before saying that. The report basically says that the programme makers lied to the viewers & deceived Channel 4 management. Channel 4 management themselves were incompetent in their response.
How is this an an advert for the show?
The timing was such that Ofcom had to report before Channel 4 to start their summer season of the show. If the report had not ben published Ch4 would have had to delay their series. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Well its difficult to argue with someone who doesnt want to know the content of the subject, but ofcom is independent of Channel 4. Its the Regulator. This report is disasterous for Channel 4. how does that help them? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Its also blown apart their entire strategy for the channel.
It has probably ended any hopes they had of securing licence fee funding.
It has put privatisation of the agenda.
Their chief executive may have to resign.
It exposes their main production as one that lied & deceived their audience.
Ok. If you take the view that there is no such thing as bad publicity to extremes you could be right. But that's like saying that all the press coverage of John major's government helped him in the 1997 election. There IS such a thing as bad publicity. It doesnt help people to be found to have deceived their viewers. You only have to look at the phone in scams to understand that. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

If their strategy was more makeover shows, property programs, fly on the wall 'documentaries' and endless repeats of freinds I can't say I'm too dissapointed. |

Sugar started out selling car ariels from a van, now a multi millionaire. And the first winner,Tim Campbell has struck out on his own, so I guess it must work for some businesses,G.
Besides, it will be more intelligent than wannabees who will say in their interview tapes that they will "rip it up and be very controversial" ...and then do absolutely nothing! Pathetic. _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Many years ago, when I was a wee bunny, I worked for a well-known High St electrical retailer...
We once took apart an Amstrad Hi-Fi, and were astonished to find the equipment consisted of little more than a pretty-looking empty box fitted with the grottiest components going at that time- and the things never worked that well, anyway.
Bit like Sugar, himself, it seems... cheap, nasty and trying to reach a height it will never attain.
I know he has money, before anyone mentions it, but he will never have class _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

I don't watch any of these so-called reality shows. Seems to me that their link with 'reality' is tenuous at best.
Therefore, I firmly believe that anyone who watches them deserves all they get. Don't cry about seeing cr*p when you've decided to watch it in the first place.
Don't like what you're seeing? Vote with your off button. Don't talk about it with your mates, tell Carphone Warehouse or whoever's daft enough to sponsor it this year that you're not prepared to buy or use any of their products whilst they continue to support it. E-mail Kermit and tell him you're not prepared to listen to his show whilst he is linked with it (like anyone does anyway!).
Once the sponsors pull out and the viewing figures plummet, it will be consigned to history. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

The reason, Mark, why Ofcom has taken all this time to deliberate is that this was not the only issue that they have to deliberate on. There are lots of complaints about programming and the group that meets only meets at specific times.
Personally, I believe C4 knew exactly what it was doing when it put that moron in with the Bollywood actress and they secretly hoped that something would arise that boosted media attention and therefore ratings.
And of course the punters throughout the Uk fell for it hook line and sinker by watching it and then being outraged by it.
So C4 has to make 3 on-air apologies? Big deal! |

Won't be watching. After the first, and the first Celeb BB, that was it for me and Mrs G. _________________ Geddon
