Quote from Andrew Harrison:
"The BBC should be all about delivering reach and serving every licence fee payer, rather than just stealing listeners from the commercial sector."
A touch of sour grapes possibly?
Radio 2 is my base station for radio, and I only switch when there is something I want to Listen to ( footy on 5live) or the presenter is not to my liking ( Mr Evans). _________________ Geddon

I agree with some of the comments made by the Commercial people on there. All of us who complain about the playlist can be in no doubt that Radio 2 have targeted commercial listeners and (despite what Lesley says) takes very few actual risks. |

Got to say it's mine as well, and old habits die very hard!

Could this simply be interpreted as an indicator that the commercial stations need to raise their game?

That basically still applies to me to and likewise I only switch over / off if the presenter isn't to my liking (I've said plenty of times who they are) or if the content isn't really for me (e.g. Jazz - Nowt to do with Humphrey Lyttelton, He [& the teams] had me in stitches in I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue) _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I think you're right Ian. We have a new ILR in Hull, and already it has got Blunderside scared. So Much that they have revamped their schedules, their presenters and brought their sportscall program forward by 20 mins so that it starts 5 min before KCFM. _________________ Geddon

Have you seen the new RT with details of all next week's specials?
What a pity the preview of Whatever Happened to Radio 2 (BBC4, Fri 5 Oct) was clearly written by someone with little appreciation of the place for specialist genre.
The descripton of Brian Matthew as 'widely adored' made me smile. It seems a bit cloying yet is quite apt too.
They don't seem to have mentioned Sing Something Simple. I assume that this is a straightforward error.

Paul Hollingdale, the first voice on Radio 2, was on Breakfast TV this morning. Charming chappie, still got that same voice. I enjoyed the interview until he said he supported Lesley Douglas hiring Russell Brand! |

As I don't know if I'll manage to get on to the boards tomorrow, may I wish everyone a very happy day's listening to the special programmes.
I've set Brian Matthew's special to record and hope to hear Paul Hollingdale before going out for much of the rest of the day. Does anyone know if others will be on Listen Again?
