It would have been Dr Wally's 60th this coming Friday, please spare a moment to think of Paul and his family and friends on this day as I'm sure it will not be an easy time for them. Sad

I will mention too (hope nobody minds) this just giving webpage which was set up by somebody from the TOGs site last year a couple of days after Paul died. http://www.justgiving.com/DrWally
Funds go to Hospice of St Francis where Paul spent his last few days. Please do not feel obliged to give, I am not twisiting anyone's arm, just thought I would mention in case anyone was not aware and felt like donating.

I really really miss Pauly on Terry's show, it just isn't the same anymore.
I hope Terry mentions Pauly's 60th on Friday and maybe plays a nice song for him.

Hi Toggy

I noticed it would have been his birthday today as it is marked on the TOGS calendar and there's a photo of him. He's very much missed.

As well as missing Pauly and his joshing with Terry, I really miss the music he used to pick which covered many styles and genres.
Whoever picks the music now should take a look back at the music Pauly picked and learn a few lessons from him.

In what is proving to be a less than vintage show today (perhaps the freedom of Limerick has gone to his head) Terry has just (20 mins ago) referred to him and read out someone's piece of doggerel in such a rushed way (emotion or lack of time?) I could barely understand it, before playing, of all things, the Zutons' "Valerie".

Perhaps you would have preffered it if Terry had collapsed in tears. Rolling Eyes

How was he supposed to read it exactly? it was perfectly understandable to me.

I understood it, though many others may not have caught it, and, no, I did not expect him to gush. I just thought it a little rushed and almost off-hand, and the track to follow it not a natural Wally choice.

I'm not one of those who was particularly engaged into the Wogan-Walters relationship and repartee; my observation was made in the knowledge that a lot of people were and might have expected a little more by way of marking what would have been his 60th.

I agree that the track that followed was not the best choice but that is down to Alan Boyd or the other chap whose name escapes me.

Other than that I thought the poem was nice and well read, it didn't seem rushed or off hand for that matter. Confused
Don't really know what else Terry could have done this morning.

Just had the opportunity to Listen Again (it's at 45 mins in), and it does sound better than I felt at the time.
