Sorry they didn't manage to include our request yesterday but I suppose they get inundated with the things.

Otherwise, enjoyed the show, though there's still too much reliance on the US charts.

Was BM's accent more transatlantic when he interviewed the Beatles in the 1964 recording featured in the A-Z?

The reggae version of the Swan Lake piece was uncannily effective.

Good idea for 3 in a row to feature tracks with guest instrumentalists.

Mrs W has catered par excellence for our 30th wedding anniversary buffet party this lunchtime, so it was ironic to hear Zoot Money's amusing My Wife Can't Cook!

Ian.

Many thanks for good wishes. We had a really excellent celebration.

Mrs W got us a mention on Ken Bruce yesterday morning.

I had to smile at a SOTS listener who had worked out that the sixties comprised of 87,600 hours.

As SOTS had started in 1990 and had clocked up only 1,768 hours, there are 42,916 2 hour shows required to completely cover the period.

Brian will have to carry on for another 826 weeks or 68.75 years to completely cover the 60's!

well that's ok then. Very Happy

But SOTS often plays records it's had on before. How does this affect these figures?

42,916 x 2 = 85832 hours = 5149920 minutes
so if on average a record is 3mins that's 1,716,640 records

that's 171,664 records released per year = 470 records released per day Shocked Shocked Shocked

You wonder how many are released a day now , and how many we never hear ?

R2 would need about ten playlists a day to keep up, not flog the same old records for 6 weeks or so.

The reggae version of Swan Lake made me think of the scene in the Madness film 'Take It Or Leave It', where they're dancing to it.

My Wife Can't Cook (Zoot Money)should have been an alternative theme song for Ria in 'Butterflies'!

Despite the recent moans, I still think the show is great, new producer or not.

Loved the A - Z of the Beatles this week where Paul's talking about how they get to special venues because they're so famous and they "can't travel on buses anymore, which is sad, I miss the buses"

"I don't!" says John, "I don't miss buses at all" Laughing

also, great to hear the US Beatle soundalikes The KnickerBockers with Lies. I'd forgotton about them.
