Is there some sort of experiment tonight where most of London's public buildings are turning off their lights between 9 and 10pm tonight?
Sounds like a burgulars idea of Christmas! _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Ernie, it's probably another knee-jerk, hare-brained scheme intended to teach us all to conserve power and "save the planet"
Give me strength... when will the peoples of the earth wake up and realise that "global warming" alarms are the biggest political screw-over of the populace in the history of mankind
It's just another excuse to squeeze more tax out of us 'til our pips squeak! _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |

a Canadian scientist was today predicting that global cooling is the real scare that we should be worried about. He claims it will start in 2020 and is linked to the periodic cycles of the sun's output.
Wont we look stupid if we stop producing Co2 and it starts to turn cold. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

All these new Chinese power stations will keep us warm. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I'm sure it was Errol Flynn plus someone else who persuaded th people in the Empire State Building to switch off the lights in a pattern to spell "F off", sometime in the 1930's. Wasn't there myself I hasten to add. |

Getting really fed up with this 'global warming' cr*p now what we do makes no difference while the Chinese are building power stations like they are going out of fashion. |

Hi All . .. back from my holibags! had a great time ... a picture or two coming next week. Been snowed under at work since Tuesday with meetings and more meetings ...... guess why? .....We're putting together a "Green Team" here at work, with the job of reducing the Organisation's Carbon Footprint. This new work is in addition to my everyday job. ( they must have noticed I never do anything) It was like that IBM advert yesterday.... so, I said, whose job is it to sort this lot out? A brief period of silence , a few clearing throats ... followed by, yours!
I guess I always wanted to be a trippy hippy sandle wearing lesbian:- now I can be! |

Of course some of the planet's changes are cyclical, but why should we add to the problems?

I'm surprised the capital's seemingly frail power system was able to cope with the surge when they all went back on again. _________________ Ron |

Of course you might ask why it is necessary to have lights on in a building and all consuming electricity when there is nobody in there to use them. Or is that just too sensible a reaction? |

For once I agree with you. They should be fitted with activity sensors that turn the lights off automatically.
However it is crazy from a public safety perspective to turn lights off in a city street area when there are many people about. Not sure if they actually did this or just switched off the floodlighting of public buildings last week. Anybody know? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |
