I'm happy to hear that the lovely Bill Bryson has been awarded an honorary O.B.E
I think he's a brillaint writer and this is well deserved.

Yes, it's lovely news. I've read all his books and they are very good - the only one I didn't get into was the Brief History one and that was probably my own fault as it was just too intellectual for me!

A short history of nearly everything is a good book but it's the kind of thing to read a little of at a time. There is a lot of information in it and there's too much to take in all in one go.
I understand they use it in schools as part of the circculum because it's so well written.

Excellent news!

The honours system occasionaly gets it right, and this is one of those times Very Happy

I've loved everything that Bill Bryson has written.... looking forward to getting my mitts on a copy of "The life & times of the thunderbolt kid" when I'm next in town
