Russell Brand hosts BBC Radio 2's coverage of the Live Earth concert with a special show, featuring live coverage and highlights of the international concerts.

Earlier in the day, Jonathan Ross (10.00am-1.00pm) hosts his show live from Wembley, catching up with artists as they prepare for the concert.

Artists performing live on stage at Wembley include Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, James Blunt, Snow Patrol, Razorlight, Keane, Damien Rice, Corinne Bailey Rae, David Gray, Duran Duran, Genesis, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Paolo Nutini.

With Live Earth concerts spanning all seven continents in locations including New York, Johannesburg, Rio de Janeiro, Tokyo, Kyoto, Sydney, Hamburg, Shanghai and Istanbul, the BBC also features highlights from the best of the international shows.

Created by former United States Vice-President Al Gore and Live 8's organiser Kevin Wall, the Live Earth concerts aim to raise awareness of environmental issues.

Limmos, helicopters, areoplanes, etc I can't see any of them cycling. Laughing

Totally agree although the Pussycat Dolls woke me up-they weren't wearing very much were they-excellent.

Madonna seems to have lost her mind - what was with the Eurovision-style La Isla Bonita? Still, at least it was fun. More than can be said for the rest.

Radio 2's coverage (with Russell Brand) was dreadful. I had to turn off after 30 minutes.

I'd agree with you. I switched on the R2 coverage, someone on stage (presumably announcing a group) he talked for a while then he seemed to be cut and music started half way through a track Confused

I switched off.

Do the BBC edit out those who talked too much, or maybe he was considered political ?

Oh, that was just another example of the pompous patronising attitude of the Americans running the damn thing. As if getting some old English actor to spout rubbish for 5 minutes will get us to change our views! Evil or Very Mad

At one point he said "you can change the world, just by little things like not leaving your TV on standby overnight and, well, you know the rest" - Actually Terence I don't know the rest! I was hoping you and your concert could tell me, but I guess that message isn't as important as the one about renting Al Gore's crappy powerpoint presentation.
