What dreadful weather over the last fortnight.
It's been so localised, too. On Saturday I was in Whitley Bay and North Shields and got a real drenching in a prolonged cloudburst. Yet when I got home (10 miles west of Newcastle), they'd had almost no rain.
Today is simply ugh--how else would I have time to put so many postings up on here? And it's apparently much worse still in Rotherham, where my middle son lives. His partner is stranded at work because all the roads around her workplace are impassable.
But--with Glastonbury Festival just finishing and the Newcastle Hoppings fair in full swing, you can almost bank on having a deluge.

Friday and today it has rained almost non-stop here (Nottm). Flooding in the villages east of the city, closer to the Trent, and today over the west side of the county.
Our back garden, which is level-ish, resembles a paddy field - good job I mowed and tidied up just before the deluge last week. _________________ Ron |

Ian - a spot-on comment about the Hoppings Fair arriving at Newcastle's Town Moor - you can virtually guarantee a wet week when they turn up. This year is proving to be no exception to the rule.
At least the associated TGBs* who used to travel with the fair haven't been seen for some years now - at one time they would trawl quiet streets in the suburbs with pick-up trucks looking for bits and pieces to do off with, whether or not they were actually put out for the bin/scrapman. If it wasn't nailed down, chances are it would walk during Hoppings Week. The number of fights in the pubs in Gosforth High Street also increased dramatically....

If you choose to live up North then don't you expect bad weather from time to time.
Here in London town the weather has been great today. |

It's not been too bad here, it rained for about 10 minutes this evening but other than that it's been mostly cloudy with a few sunny spells.
Noticed the sun was out this evening at Wimbledon too. |

If Noah is really building a new boat any chance we could give some free tickets to Ms Kennedy, Messrs Wogan, Bruce and Wright for the first sailing and then perhaps ask the captain to set sail for shark infested waters somehere where hopefully the boat would spring a major leak.
Just an idea. |

It's being noted that this June has been even worse than that of 1980.
I remember it so well. It had been gorgeous in May and we were eagerly looking forward to this continuing during two weeks holiday in the North of Scotland from about June 1st onwards. Then we passed the holiday in rain, thunder and gales !
I hate to tell you but in 1980 it stayed pretty miserable all summer.

Not only do the motorways down here grind to a halt, but if that flake should fall on what was the 'Air Ministry' building on Christmas day, the bookies will pay out! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Way-aye, you're hard up there lad
Cher, is it true that if a Geordie lass goes out on a Saturday night in more than her bra and knickers it has to be at least 20 degrees below? _________________ He's not the Messiah- he's a very naughty boy! |
