If you take out all the 'ers', would there be time to fit a couple more tunes into the programme? Smile

Why isn't Janice Long ever given a chance during the daytime?
She's cheerful and seems to love her music.
I'd prefer her to Mark Radcliffe in the afterrrrrrrnoon.

Very good question Gazmando. When Janice first came to Radio 2, she was on Saturday afternoons before Richard Allinson and did cover for him a few times in his absence after he took over that spot. So Janice has been allowed out in the daytime but not for a long time now. She has also deputised for Simon Mayo on the original Album Chart Show which was a daytime show in the summer half of the year! I think Janice would be great in a primetime spot.

Shame Richard Allinson did not get this gig-he's not on holiday.

Mr "ers" is not my cup of tea-Suggs on Virgin Radio is much more to my liking/cup of tea at 2pm.

Still one good thing comes out of this-Stuart Maconie will be pleased to be solo in the evenings-at least he will be able get a word in edgeways!

Well, I'm enjoying Mark's show but why is he not allowed to do the show on his own? After Sue Perkins last year and now Liza Tarbuck is it in his contract that he must have slightly-witty interruptions from grumpy lesbians?

What a joy it's been to be able to listen to R2 between 2&5 these past few days. If only MR would take over grom SW permanently!

We back onto Richard Allinson? Must be getting around the time we will hear him again covering for presenters. It will only be Ken or Sarah as Johnnie is covering for Terry soon Chris has someone else covering him and Wrighty has had his holiday.

You'll never guess how he filled the gap! Go on, have a guess...

He just talked even more than usual! The Oldies didn't even start until after the 3 O'Clock News and he talked so much his first interview started at 3.40ish.

But despite all the extra time available he managed cut short more records than usual. I lost track of the number he spoke over, and two or three records didn't even reach the second verse before he cut them off to do some more wittering.

But apart from that, it was a brilliant return...

Well I never Ian, are you sure he just talked more? SW talking over records, cutting them off short and even singing over records; come on he's far too professional for that, isn't he? Wink Wink Wink Razz
