It hasn't been the same since he left the Beeb, but he's still the best.
Hope he doesn't do the same with the Sunday job just yet. _________________ Ron |

His show was always only as good as the guests. In fairness there was less competition for guests in the 1970's so it was easier to land big names. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I like Parky, nice fella and a decent chat show host. Will look forward to his autobiography with interest
I listen to his Sunday show occasionally but to tell the truth I don't really like jazz so I don't listen much.
Best wishes to him. |

The show is always good for the guests. I suppose it would be best to go now at a high instead of being pushed? |

What always set him apart was his ability to stay quiet and let his guests talk, rather than frequently interrupting them needlessly. His early journalistic career and absence of media personality helped. And, yes, the quality of the guests was better in the 70s.
The Telegraph has listed his "Top Ten Moments" http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/06/27/nparky227.xml but they're all the embarassing ones, Ali excepted. I prefer to remember those with the likes of David Niven, Peter O'Toole, Billy Connolly (the early ones), Sammy Cahn and Peter Sellers. Can you imagine Ross or Norton with them? The word bargepole springs to mind. _________________ Ron |

Graham Norton, Jonathan Ross & Davina McCall?
There is no replacement for Parky. Serious interviews on TV are dead now. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

He is keeping his Radio 2 show as Steve Wright confirmed on his show as they have had a lot of enquires. I thought to text him saying were they on the Message boards Calling for his head?
I think we will see him on UK GOLD |

You said it Ernie- in addition however, in front of mind the likes of Stuart M, Dermot O' L, Tim Lovejoy, Jamie T,- all have the makings of engaging younger Parky's (if he's the benchmark!) imho if given the chance. |

Why do they need to have a chat show? No need for it these days. You get all these famous stars being interviewed on other shows. |

Excellent? The man's a slimy, hypocritical, egomaniac, self-aggrandising little git. |
