Singer Charlotte Church and her rugby star boyfriend Gavin Henson were among guests at Tony Blair's country retreat in the final months of his premiership.

Also on the Chequers guest list, released under the Freedom of Information Act, were TV presenters Lorraine Kelly and Richard Madeley.

Television host June Sarpong and DJ Chris Evans were entertained there too between April 2006 and 27 June, 2007.

Chris Evans was there to give Tony a briefing on his plans for word domination.

So, some well known people were entertained at Chequers by the then PM. Prime Ministers have always entertained people who are in the public eye at Chequers since the year dot (Harold Wilson had some pretty mad parties there in the 60s, according to local legend). Holding social events in that capacity is part of the job. So I do not really understand what the story is.

Wine was given to Tony by the government of Saudi Arabia.

Does anyone else find that weird? A country that outlaws alcohol is handing it out as a gift to foreigners? Shocked
