|
|
Afternoon presenter Suggs is to leave Friday night Party Classics to make way for Virgin Radio's latest signing - Ex -Spandau Ballet front man Tony Hadley. Tony will take over hosting the show this Friday from 6pm.
Paul Jackson, Chief Executive of Virgin Radio, said: “Tony is a top drawer signing for us and signals our ambition as we pursue a clear and focused strategy ahead of IPO. He is an absolute party legend with the star appeal and infectious personality that will be a hit with our listeners and bring new audiences to the station.”
Commenting on becoming a DJ on Virgin Radio, Tony Hadley said: 'In Spandau Ballet we were at the centre of the 80's music scene, which was like no other - I'll be recreating that party atmosphere every Friday night'. |

Alongside Stuart Maconie?
Seriously though, there is not a chance in hell that Hadley will do the show live. It will be another voice tracked show.
Virgin are also getting Shane Ritchie & Al Murray to do shows aren't they? _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Al Murray has already. The network is trying to sign up well known names who voice track shows like Magic London. |

I believe Suggs is no longer presenting the "Afternoon Tea Show" as well.
It looks as though he has left Virgin completely which is a shame as I thought he was a very good presenter. |

No he is touring at the moment. He will be back on the radio after the tour. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

Thanks Ernie-that's great news.
The afternoon tea show is a much better alternative to Steve Wright.
Afternoons are pretty grim on the Radio I find-still am listening just now to some old Richard Allinson shows on BFBS from last week- I have been out of action due to computer problems recently. |

Suggs is overexposed anyway, but I do like his TV show about disappearing London. |
