I was intrigued to come across a lenghty article if one of the papers last week about the new world of celebrity DJ's. The article talks about the amount of celebrities who want to be DJ's and the fees they charge for one performance.

Indded it states that 5 or 6 years ago, the only celeb dj's on the scene were boyband members Abz Breen of Five and Duncan James from Blue. Now the party circuit is awash with stars, from Peaches Geldof to 50 Cent, all willing to spin in public. Perhaps surprisingly with the exception of the career dj's-talent behind the decks seems to be of little imoportance to promoters and organisers, who are are more interested in the celebrity name on the flyer or invitation.

A great quote from the article "A celebrity DJ is basically the tried-and -tested formula of celebrity endorsement, Stars know there value-if you're going to levarage off someones 'brand name, then they're going to charge".

Some examples of celeb dj's fees and what they charge for one gig are as follows :

50 cent £50,000
P Diddy £20,000
Rihanna £20,000
Groove Armada £15,000
Timaland £10,000
Tommy Lee £10,000
Kate Lawler £1,750
Howard Donald £1,750
Mikey & Grace £500
Peaches Geldof £1,750
Lindsay Lohan £5,000

DJ Celebs

Tiesto-a staggering £100,000
Sean Rowley up to £50,000
Paul Oakenfold £25,000
DAvid Guetta £20,000
Mark Ronson £10,000
Fatboy Slim £10,000
Chris Moyles £4,000
SArah Cox £4,000

Certainly the article is interesting food for thought-what I find kinda interesting is the likes of Moyles and Cox who are known to millions are not exactly earning "top dollar" when playing venues etc when compared to some of the celebs types detailed above.
