SHORTEST SINGLE EVER READY TO HIT THE UK CHARTS

(It's very good! - and catchy. You'll not get it out of your head! If you like Python-esq silliness, this is right up your street. Watch R2 jump on the back of this now and claim 'you heard it there first!!' NO YOU DIDN'T! Stand up Mr. Baker!)

At just 36 seconds in length ‘The Ladies’ Bras’ by Jonny Trunk and Wisbey could make pop history when the August 19th singles chart is announced by being the shortest song ever to enter the UK Singles Chart. Early buyer reaction indicates a Top 40 position is possible already and interest is growing daily.

The driving force behind what has become an unexpected record attempt is award winning broadcaster, Danny Baker on his All Day Breakfast Show podcast. The song which repeats the line,‘The Ladies’ Bras, The Ladies’ Bras, The Ladies’ Knickers and the Ladies’ Bras’ over a jaunty organ backing is painfully catchy. When Baker first previewed the song in July the reaction from ADBS listeners was unprecedented. Some were actually caused physical pain too.

All Day Breakfast Show Producer, Phil Wilding said,“After Danny played Ladies’ Bras we were swamped with emails from listeners asking where they could buy it. The response was phenomenal. We’ve had emails from people accidentally dousing themselves in petrol while dancing to it and husbands who have been beaten up by their wives while singing it unconsciously in front of in-laws. It really is the most reactive 36 seconds of music ever created.”

Facebook Groups and unofficial YouTube videos created by fans in support of The Ladies’ Bras have begun appearing on the Internet in what is becoming the unlikeliest of underground movements.

One fan on Facebook, Paul Hicks said,“The kids gave us the 'Crazy Frog', now its payback time.”

The Ladies’ Bras is released on Monday 13th August but can be ordered today from http://wippit.com/ladiesbras

Rolling Eyes

If anyone pays money for this they need their head examining. If tempted, it's on youtube - it's not worth putting in a link.

If it keeps the likes of 'Umber-ella-ella-ella' and any new Spice Girls release off the top spot, I'd say it was money well spent!

Let me think... No, too close to call. Cool

It will be a real shame if Danny Baker's chief claim to fame becomes the promotion of that joke. (Almost as bad as Simon Mayo and Donald Where's Your Troosers)

Maybe. However if it provides exposure to Johnny Trunks other excellect work, that can only be a good thing!

I alert you in particular to 'Music For Biscuits' (anyone remember Mike Sammes?! Great story surrounding this, which you can read on the site) and also 'Dirty Fan Male'

The direct link to the Mike Sammes stuff. Just incredible gold nearly lost forever!

Do I look like a mug?

Mind you, some of the Adam Faith singles that we bought in the 60s weren't much longer!

Ian.

Still got a long way to go to match the shortest tracks ever, which I believe come courtesy of a band called "Napalm Death".

Quoting Wiki: "The band earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records for recording the shortest song ever, "You Suffer" which is precisely 1.316 seconds long and consists of the almost unintelligible lyrics "You suffer - but why?". Indeed, the vinyl single was particularly amusing, given that the entire track was contained in a groove that did not even complete a full rotation of the record."

A colleague of mine once tried to play one of their albums in my car whilst we were heading to an airshow some ten years ago. Once some two minutes had elapsed, I think I had heard nine tracks or so (and that was clearly enough!).

Very interesting, Lady B... , especially the Mike Sammes story.

Trunk's obviously well connected, as he seems to be able to get the music press to review some of these albums, but I've only seen the Fuzzy Felt Folk one in the shops.

Yes, you can buy all the Trunk Records stuff on line. Just click on the Trunk shop logo. Trunk and Wisby have been making appearences on the podcast www.thealldaybreakfastshow.com - Wisby particularly has an amazing range of impersonations including a rarely heard Stanley Unwin giving it full gobbldygook! Incredible. (#29 if you're interested)
