Aaaaargh! Shocked Shocked Shocked Rolling Eyes

Started repeating himself before five minutes had elapsed and managed to check a timecheck in the middle of a sentence about something else.

Obviously someone's idea of a sick joke to do this to the Dawn Patrol audience....

(Best harry enfield voice)

OI MITCHELL! NO Exclamation

Awful is too kind a word for this drivel. We do not need the 10 most popular fictional Dogs (one of which was Basil Brush) at this time ina morning. The Dawn Patrol is meant to ease our way into Terry, not to subject us to the inept ravings of the incompetent first thing in a morning.

It's nice too hear a different voice covering Dawn Patrol. I would expect he felt at home starting a 6am. Back to the old days at Virgin Radio?

It's only a 90 minute show. Pete would barely get through a complete sentence in that time Laughing

The Dark Lord was doing the subs job this morning. A pleaseure to hear a radio professional after the garbage of yesterday! Did Dame lesley take any notice of the comments here?.

I noticed that the thought police are still active on the old R2 baords, a thread commenting on Mr Evans Holiday was closed after 6 postings.

But this one has survived (so far) because the pre-mods were half asleep and the Host obviously not at his/her desk

"Overtime" in the conventional sense isn't paid to presenters on freelance contract, and I'd be surprised if Mitchel is engaged on terms that are different to anybody else in his position.

I thought his standing in for SK was utterly appalling - he sounded embarrased and as if he was on speed. Dire!

Ahh Mr. "errr....time check!" strikes again. Just terrible. Only Lesley could go shopping at Virgin Radio and come back with the talentless half of Pete and Geoff. Just what is she playing at? It's either TV flavour of the minutes with zero radio experience (Davina/Thornton) or jocks with the radio experience, but with zero talent or personality! (Mitchell)

For the love of God Danny, save us from this painful mediocrity!!!!

On board what? The Titanic? The Marie Celeste?

This morning's offering was so unbelievably bad I had to switch off and get up early. I don't even do that with SK.

Is the guy suffering from a caffeine overdose or something..... or worse?

While I expect he's getting extra money, I do think he must cost less than getting an outside freelancer (such as Richard A). I think this because, apart from Davina Rolling Eyes , nearly all the stand-ins nowadays appear to be on regular BBC contracts and are just moved about a little.

Listened to Pete Mitchell on the Listen again feature re his cover for SK.

Truly terrible-he has to be the worst presenter on Radio 2. He can not string a sentance together without tripping over himself.

Get him off the station completely.

Reverse psychology; put Pete Mitchell on to prove that someone can do a worse job than even a half-fit SK.

Unfortunately for the BBC, those who were lucky enough to catch Alex's extended slot will now have realised (and not for the first time) how the job should be done by a compete professional.

Over the past few months I'd mellowed a bit to Sarah; yes, the perpetual malapropisms were still laboured and distinctly unfunny, the muttering and shuffling throughout the papers review annoying and unnecessary (go to Listen Again and check Alex's version to compare) but overall I'd have been happy to say that the show had slightly improved.

One thing that DID make me howl with laughter though; when Pete did the showtune; a dedicated SK fan asking for, "There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This"!!

PMSL!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

A piece in the Mail today which quotes

"According to well-placed sources, senior figures at the BBC are worried that Kennedy - a consummate broadcaster whose career has spanned three decades - is finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the strain of her early morning show.

"Some of the more senior people at the Beeb are on tenterhooks wondering what she will say or do next," a source reveals.

"There is a sense that Sarah, while brilliant, is something of a loose cannon. The problem is that she is also very popular and much loved, so they don't quite know how to approach the issue."

Maybe Sarah should consider giving up this show and let someone else take over.

If after all, the strain of getting up some early is taking its effect on her then she should her options.

I think if she did leave I would expect she host a show on Sunday and not leave completly. There will be a lot of pressure on her when she returns. Hope she stands to her own defence as people like the press can say some wrong things.

Sarah is off next week.
