Naturally enough, although this is ostensibly a Radio 1 project, its content, and nearly all of the artists and bands taking part, are more aligned with today's Radio 2. It has drawn a few sneery comments on the BBC R2 MB, and been totally ignored by people on the R1 side.
Like the Sgt Pepper tribute (which seems to have been quietly forgotten or postponed) it all depends upon how well they're done and whether today's acts can add anything worthwhile to the originals, but, assuming it retails for something along the lines of the Now albums (eg £12.99) do we reckon it'll be worth a go? _________________ Ron |

I don't know what Radio 1 has to boast about. At the beginning of its life it was embarassingly awful and not a patch on the pirates that it was designed to "replace".
The 40th anniversary of R1 is best forgotten about, I think. |

I listened to R1 for its first few months before deciding that R2 was more in my line.
But I wish the album success.

Don't agree with that at all.
The early Radio 1 was very good I thought, no way as good as London or Caroline, I don't think anything will ever be, but very listenable and it soon became "my station" being 15 at the time.
In fact I had no problem with Radio 1 right up until the late 80s really.
I have much more of a problem the current Radio 2 than I ever did with Radio 1.
The recent broadcasts of the Essex Pirates have made sure of that! damn good radio and even better music.. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
I have heard how radio should be. |

What, Jimmy Young introducing Ray McVay and His Orchestra playing Jimi Hendrix's "Purple Haze"? It was awful for most of the time! |

Radio 1 was fine until Matthew Bannister got his mitts on it. _________________ Geddon
