Pity. I've got accustomed to RA in the morning from 6.45 onwards. I particularly like his tongue-in-cheek newspaper reviews - especially his poke at all the freebie content and Big Bother coverage in the mail etc. Music is much better, too. He played the Beach Boys Sail on Sailor this morning, which was a nice start the day.

I think we are going to have to find an alternative when the regular presenter returns next week, I just can't cope with it anymore.[/i]

Know what Fred ? Just use the buttons/dials on your radio. You'll find plenty of alternatives. We'll be welcoming Sarah back and breathing a sigh of relief.

Although we will be welcoming Sarah back, we will miss Alice Richardson. It is a pity that he suffers the scorn of dame Lesley, as there are quite a few daytime slots that he can fill and improve the content.

Agreed, Geddon - I really don't mind Alice - if only, for instance, he could get either of the 2-5 or 5-7 slots, I'd be quite happy!

I'm very happy for you - and thanks for the useful advice, something I didn't know could be done with today's modern technology. Meanwhile, it would nice if SK were to be given another slot like sunday morning at 2.00am, for instance. I would much more welcome RA in the Dawn Patrol slot.

MID-You don't speak for me and many others on this board/ and in the UK when you say "We'll be welcoming back Sarah and breathing a sign of relief". No we won't

Why would we?

Sarah Kennedy is totally dire and the sooner she is retired from the BBC Radio 2 the better in "our" (oops my) opinion".

Richard Allinson rocks.

It'a all about opinions isn't it? I think the same about Evans and Wright, but I don't listen to them at all now. So if you don't like SK , do the same.

By the way, who is MID?

Yes Richard is good in the mornings. It is a shame he can only really cover DP as he has other commitments?

"The Mast" in The Guardian newspaper is a sort of graph of good and bad media things in the last week, written by Gareth McLean.

Today's top good thing is "Richard Allinson covering for Sarah Kennedy on Radio 2: And not one ill-judged remark about Germans, or reference to 'coloured' babies."

Well observed, Ian. It's that which I find so unacceptable about her so-called newspaper "review". It's like on the first morning of her "pneumonia" attack - she read a piece about the death of another British soldier in Iraq and commented "Oh come on. What on earth are they doing there anyway. Everybody knows they should get out".

Whether or not her listeners agree with the sentiment is immaterial; she should never be voicing her opinions in this manner.

And I still don't believe the "pneumonia" story, either.

Firewirefred-I completely agree with you with her regular dire performances on her review of the newspapers.

Indded I also agree with you re the pneumonia story as well. My father had this illness a few years ago-he was poorly for at least 2 months. Sorry 2 weeks to recover from pneumonia is a nonsense. I think this story has been put out by the BBC as a smokescreen because she simply turned up for work worse for wear through drink.

Yep. When I heard it the first thing i said to Mrs. FWF was Is that woman p***ed or what? When I listen to those clips on youtube I am even more convinced of it. You are right - a smokescreen is the word that is probably the best one to describe this sorry tale.

Maybe non-Guardian readers deserve the odd radio show to cater to their tastes as well. I'm sure Guardian-man is spoiled by the BBC Wink

Regarding the paper review, this review of the free stuff by Allinson is tiresome. Like a lot of his act, it was funny once but has grown cliched by constant repetition.

Maybe the withdrawal from Basra has something to do with getting out before SK offers to send her nickers again, when she's back on air.

it depends a lot on the type and serverity..

"The duration of treatment has traditionally been seven to ten days, but there is increasing evidence that shorter courses (as short as three days) are sufficient."

Yet more vitriole at SK - why can people not accept that she is ill, needs time to recover, and will be back when she's ready?

Sorry ernie, but that is pure opinion and yours to boot, however, like the "Guardianman", and it also appears to be many others on these boards, my opinion is that RA is doing a very fine job of covering for Sarah who I wish a speedy recovery and hope to hear her Dawn Patrolling again soon. I do prefer RA, but do not have a problem with Sarah and cannot understand all the negative hype and innuendo regarding her illness.

As another 'guardiansman', the column (or mast tower) in question had Davina Mccall on it 2 weeks ago. Right at the bottom. so the guardian does have certain good tastes!

No ernie there are quite a good few facts on these message boards, and there are opinions that are stated as facts; maybe the difference is just too subtle for you to grasp ernie Wink Confused Smile

Let me guess - when you say something it is a fact.
When someone else says something you disagree with, its an opinion.

Yeah right. In your opinion Wink

You don't seem to be able to grasp the concept here ernie, let me explain.
Cherskiy posts photographs of aircraft on these message boards (fact). I think they are excellent (opinion). RA is standing in for Sarah Kennedy (fact). I reckon he's really rather good (opinion). Is that any clearer for you ernie.

What a pointless post. As Toggy Tea commented, you obviously didn't hear much of the show, and you're obviously trying to jump on the "dish SK at any price" bandwagon. I thought you were above that sort of thing Mark.
