Rock star Pete Doherty has been arrested for suspected drug possession after performing at the V festival.

The 28-year-old singer was arrested in the Tower Hamlets area of east London in the early hours of Monday.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

He's got to be stopped one way or another. Keep appearing in court for drug offences. Looks like he's not learning by his mistakes. The man is an idiot ( mild word ) and needs locking up.

Mark - I propose that we ignore Doherty (whoever he is) completely, so no more threads about him perhaps? Let's have a Docherty-free zone, eh?

Who is he, anyway? Seems all he's famous for is getting arrested and going out with a stick insect. Of course, many a career is based on less.

Community Service wouldn't help as the press would be around him. Jail probarly wouldn't even help. I think the record company who he is with or any gigs lined up should be scrapped and leave him on a heap. He's using this as a publicty stunt.

My thoughts entirely - and every time the media mentions him they're giving him the oxygen of free publicity. let's just ignore him.

He's got away with it again as he wasn't taken to court within 24 hours of arrest. How many lives does he have?

How does he pay for his drug habit? He dosn't really sell records in shops or anyone plays his tunes on the radio ( Only if they do, they need their head tested ) So only thing is he gets a lot of money from these gigs?

I think he really needs to be dropped now by these promoters and Organisers?

I suppose jailing him wouldn't help really, but would be a breath of fresh air if he was. He has to help himself or self destruct....

The sentencing of musician Pete Doherty has been adjourned after he failed to appear in court due to receiving treatment at a rehabiliation clinic.

The hearing will now take place on 2 October after West London Magistrates Court was told he was unable to attend.

Mark - I've been working away for over a week, but I thought I'd just log in to check what's been happening back in blighty. Thankfully your news stories have kept me up to date with everything that's relevant (and irrelevant) to life as we know it and it saves me having to go to the BBC's website to find the original stories. However, must you persist in posting comments about this nonentity called "Pete Docherty"? Does anybody really care?

Try and keep up, Mark. Your post, previous to mine and at which my reply was aimed, was made on September 5th.

Fred, four other thread-starters posted news items recently, and you don't complain about them.

Last warning Fred, lay off Mark.

Now, this Pete Docherty story is important, because with his record it's a mystery to me why driving while uninsured and with no MoT while in possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis does not mean a custodial sentence Rolling Eyes
