Mark O-What slur.
This is a message board "to discuss all things radio"-that includes the shows, the presenters, the music played etc.
We are going to have our likes and dislikes.
This message board is policed and if people go over the top then they get banned etc. That's what happened isn't it to Iain Smith re his recent slurs on Sarah Kennedy.
Just because Sarah Kennedy is off "sick" does not mean she cannot be discussed on this message board. |

Mark - are you the local Messageboard Policeman or what? Who are you to ask people to stop offering up their views about a presenter on a public service broadcasting network whom they are ultimately paying for? Discussion is exactly that - discussion. That often involves points in favour and points against a particular topic. When I say "I don't really enjoy listening to SK on the radio at dawn" that's my opinion. Others think differently; that's OK by me. So be it. |

She's been presenting the exactly same format (outdated?) for at least 10 years. |
Obviously some don't like her, but millions do tune in. She has an MBE for services to broadcasting and fits well with the early morning crew who want something gentile, friendly and thoughtful to start the day.
I hope she recovers soon, it's obviously quite serious to have this amount of time off. So what if she has more time than the others, she may have problems we don't know about, or just find it more difficult to manage, everybody is different, but her amount of time off is not that bad, particularly for a lady of her age doing an anti-social shift with her high profile status and lifestyle. I'm sure the BBC don't see it as a huge problem, apart from these press reports or rare on air issues.
I think the slur against Sarah has to stop now. Thankyou... |
Ever had pneumonia Mark? I have. It's not something you get over easily. You need to rest and get well slowly, not jump back to work as soon as you can breathe without it hurting again.
It took me two months before I felt I was back to my normal self again.
Let Sarah get better in her own time, there's a wonderful substitute in charge.

Well said Quickssandra-Richard Allinson is indeed a wonderful substitute.
Having listened to him this past week, I have to say, I think he is really enjoying being back on Radio 2. |

Well said that man.
Hopefully Richard will feature more on BBC Radio 2 in the future after his current stint on the Dawn Patrol comes to an end this Friday. |

Me too. I don't think I can bear another of SK's "newspaper reviews" at 6.45 - especially in the light of her obvious bias as displayed on her most recent performance! |

Count me in as well - I've actually listened to the show today and last week rather than just have it on as background. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

When I had pneumonia, I was off school for 2 months, mind you that was in the dark ages, (1962) when We'd only just got rid of leeches. _________________ Geddon

Nod-Don't forget to re-set your alarm clock next week then for 6am.
If I remember correctly as you advised on an earlier thread/message your alarm clock is currently set this week for 7.30am for when Terry comes on. |

Great show yet again this morning. Music was ok but the chat was excellent.
Paper reviews are great, love the way RA makes fun of the red tops! _________________ Some say he once threw a microwave oven at a tramp and that all his potted plants are called 'Steve'.....all we know is, he's called 'The Stig!'. |

Just been listening to Richards show today.
Excellent programme and the banter with Lynn Bowles was brilliant.
His style and presentation is fine with me.
If Richard got this slot full time i would certainly be up nice and early every weekday _________________ The Voice of reason in a MAD MAD world |

I won't go into the details, but again I had the mispleasure of listening to Evans earlier, anyway, he said that Sarah's back on Monday. So it must be right?! |

Yes it looks like Sarah Kennedy returns to the Dawn Patrol Show from Monday 10th September.
Interestingly enough SK has had pneumonia and by modern miracles has made a recovery in 2 weeks-does anyone buy this nonsense.
Hopefully she will do the decent thing and announce her retirement on her return. |

Yes Mark, I was better in a week, in that I didn't have a temperature, wasn't coughing painfully and didn't faint every time I stood up, but it took me around 8 weeks to feel back to my usual healthy self.
If you were on a 'pay as you work' contract, you might force yourself back as soon as possible so you had some money coming in.
Problem is, if she comes back too soon, she'll end up back off again shortly cos she's not let herself get properly well.

Quickssandra-Virtually identical to my fathers situation a few years ago-felt better after about 10 days, thought he could return to work but soon realised "not 100%" and then was off ill again recovering for about 2 months.
By the way nice to see you on these boards-I know from the past you have posted very positive comments about Richard Allinson-hope you still listen to Richard when you can. |

Course I do, I was the Sandra he was talking to Lynn about, waving goodbye to my son at the railway station yesterday!
Two mentions in two weeks from my emails, he's a star!

It's been a joy, have a blameless weekend.
Now Sarah will be back on Monday and we don't know when Richard will return. So I think these threads will sink until next time. |

He might be gone Mark, but not forgotten.
Interestingly, a Radio 2 thread praising him has been all but deleted, (one post leftout of seven) not a single word moaning, only people saying how much they'd enjoyed him this past fortnight.....
Seems they can't do praise or criticism either!

I listen to him now and again, but the local radio format and having to be by a PC don't also suit. |
