I believe I once stood next to her at a do eating cheese & drinking wine. She was drinking white wine, if I recall rightly, but it was a long time ago. It might even have been water! |

John, her nickname is "The Poisoned Dwarf". (This is not one of my insults, it's a nickname I have heard other people use to describe Elaine Paige, one being Tim Rice, I believe.) |

Hi all--so glad to see some positive comments about EP. The poisoned dwarf nickname confuses me--especially from Tim Rice. Didn't he--umm--enjoy her for 11 years or so? She's 4'11" by the way. (or so I've read-never actually met her).

I could be wrong about Tim Rice but I do vaguely remember somebody calling her The Poisoned Dwarf. Maybe it Was Lloyd-Webber? I'm pretty sure it was Rice who said it. |

Huh---now very confused. Terry...Dallas? Hmmm---at last I got my avatar working. I think the size paramaters should be made a little smaller! How did Scott get his to work? Oh well--maybe I'm just techno challenged---it kept rejecting the size of all my Bette Davis pics---

Well.... in fact in the book version she wouldn't give JR a Clinton, apparently

What is so fabulous about it? Her laugh is cringe-making. I sincerely hope Michael Ball replaces her in the New Year. A radio presenter she ain't. |

Because she's "famous" and is a "big name", just like Dermot O'Leary, Chris Evans and Russell Brand are, hence the reason why Lesley Douglas recruited them in the first place. |

Elaine Paige is NOT a suitable radio presenter; she's absolutely false on the radio, has no skills, sounds unprofessional and is a complete joke. Michael Ball would be much more suitable for that slot. Elaine Paige should stick to what she's good at - stage and screen. Listening to her squawking on the radio is like listening to fingernails being scraped down a chalk board, especially when she laughs.
Russell Brand is no better - he is a comedian/TV presenter; I do not think his radio show is a good as what Lesley Douglas says. Far too much hype if you ask me.
Chris Evans has a lot of radio experience and sounds far more professional than what Russell Brand and Elaine Paige do. |

Chris Evans isn't what I would call a "talented radio presenter" but presenting radio programmes is what he does, so he's a "radio presenter"!

Lesley Douglas only brought Elaine Paige because she is a "big name"; the woman had no experience in radio and is just a total con. She's cringe-making and should be sacked. I would listen to the show if Michael Ball (who I think is wonderful) hosted it. In fact, I think a lot more people would. I know people who listen to Radio 2 and some of them complain about the crap Sunday line up, in particular Sunday Love Songs, Elaine Paige and anything broadcast after 7pm.
I do not understand the fascination of bringing "big names" to Radio 2, not when they sound like amateurs and are totally unacceptable for radio. Lulu went down like a lead balloon; Dermot O'Leary has made Saturday teatimes sound like Junior Choice; Russell Brand has totally ruined Saturday night listening for those music enthusiasts and finally, Elaine Paige sounds just like Sarah Kennedy: Hyacinth Bucket and room for a "pony". Who can take those two moronic posh birds seriously? They're absolute garbage.
Chris Evans might not be your cuppa Rosie Lea and to be honest, I don't often listen to him because I think he is the wrong choice of presenter for Drivetime. Move him to the 2-5pm slot and give Drivetime to Stuart Maconie, Mark Goodier, Simon Mayo or Richard Allinson. Chris Evans has years of radio experience, unlike Elaine Paige and Russell Brand, who were only brought to the network because they're "famous". Not all big names are suitable for radio - I just wish Lesley Douglas would underatand that. I mean, we've even got that foul mouthed pillock Gordon Ramsay on Christmas Day telling people how to prepare a Christmas dinner. WTF is going on at Radio 2? The station (and Lesley Douglas) is losing the plot. |

Did you know that Lionel Blair once sat in for Danny Baker on BBC London back in 2004? This was when Baker hosted the breakfast show. Anyway, Lionel Blair was bloody awful, and who was one of his guests? Cliff Richard! |
