You mean that he has been dropped from Capital breakfast. Craig Doyle is replacing him. A genial Irishman at breakfast? Shocked Next the will be looking for an avuncular Scot and a mad cat lady to round off their morning schedule Wink

I daresay Lesley Clueless will bring Johnny Vaughan to Radio 2 as part of her "Celebrity Squares" game. Perhaps he'll replace Sarah Kennedy? Rolling Eyes

Yes, losing listeners, shows, and generally being unpopular with the masses seems to be a "success" in Lesley's eyes so she'll no doubt lure him to Radio 2.

I didn't realise he'd been axed by Capital - guess they finally lost faith in him. And now it's out in the open that he doesn't watch the films he reviews for "his" column in The Sun, he could be looking for a few new jobs.

He was awful on QI the other week, too. I'm not a fan!

Ian,

It's only rumours on another forum, and hes made it clear on the radio his contract is up in April. There is rumours he could move to Five Live.

I'm sure Capital could renew it if they wanted him, though.

I think JV' can interact well with the listeners and can come across funny. I dont really think Chris or Jonathan will take on breakfast. One Chris is building Drivetime for himself and Jonathan is to busy with his other committments.

I think it's pretty clear that they wont be offering him a new contract.

If we're championing local DJs to replace Wogan, then I suggest Tony Livesey of Radio Lancashire - he's great!

Chris Tarrant was fantastic on the Capital FM breakfast show but Johnny Vaughan is just dire. He's smug, arrogant and loves the sound of his own voice (as well as massaging his own ego). Yes, of course Lesley Clueless will lure him to Radio 2 because that's the kind she likes.

Rachel,

Try and sell one of the photos on e-bay as a joke? We will make some bids. They will only remove it, if they dont think it's true.

I think the BBC have given Johnny Vaughan enough chances, it's clear he's just not popular. I think everything he's done in the last few years hasn't had the success that was expected of it.

He always comes across as a bloke just trying too hard.

Captain P,

Lesley D is what is known in the business as a diversionary tactic. (A stand-in). Controller of R2 is such an unpopular position to hold; indeed, many think, akin to that of a despot dictator. So much so, in fact, that similar and very necessary tactics had to be employed to secure my safety and well-being as the real Controller during my term in post. However, a recent change in Corporation Policy, combining with a huge and happy listener-ship, has presented the opportunity to "come clean" at long last.... Smile

Mark ,.... I don't think it would fetch a great deal:)

JV is a nice enough guy, but he doesn't look you in the eye when he talks to you - then again, you don't really notice that on radio do you. Very Happy
