Maybe a week ago he would have. But today he would love an election.

I think he was playing a game which was the political equivalent of train dodging. If Brown had responded to Cameron's crowing for an election he'd have Cr*pped himself. He must be very relieved that Brown's taken the pressure off him and given him more time to come up with some policies - after all, he has absolutely nothing to take to the polls at the moment.

Stamp Duty, Inheritance tax, No ID cards, a referdum on the EU constitution, reducing target driven management of schools, police & NHS are a few I can recall just from casually following the debate.

Going around the chamber talking to the older MPs. " We wont get the voters out as it's dark" We can't lay on cars for them because the price of fuel is sky high, and we have problem with global warming...

Stamp Duty and Inheritance Tax. Easy ones they are - driven by the Daily Express and an obvious one to appease the blue rinse brigade. EU constitution? Yeah right........... when it comes to it the Tories will bottle out because their membership relies on EU membership remaining as it is.

And as for target driven management of schools - that's a complete joke. It was his party (well, Kenneth Baker, to be precise) that led us down that ridiculous road in the first place!

Police and NHS? He hasn't got a clue what to do - he's just making the right noises to the right people.

In other words, nothing to take to the electorate that I'd call "original"!

The guy's a pillock!

Stamp Duty exemption is for 1st time buyers. I dont know many who have blue rinses. The Inheritance tax threshold increase will also benefit the young. The taxing of non-domiciles is certainly original.

Uh uh. Taxing of non domiciles was considered by the Labour Party 10 years ago according to Question Time the other night.

Not that I know anything.

The hair colour might have changed but the underlying attitudes haven't. That's what the impressionable youg DC is up against.

I haven't said I think there is anything wrong with it. I just think that Cameron's party conference speech was all puff - and I don't believe that he'll commit to any of it. He has criticised Brown's "failure" this past 10 years (something I don't agree with) but if he thinks he's convincing me that he'll change things dramatically he's got another think coming. He won't - I'll put my hard-earned money on it.

So a week later and already Darling is nicking Tory policies. Last week they said the non-domiciled couldnt be taxed. This week he is going to study it (again). Last week he said that the Tories plans to reform stamp duty were crazy, now this week he has decided to do exactly what they proposed. Maybe Darling & Brown will go the whole hog and just change the party name to Conservative Wink

These guys really do have a brass neck.

Yes Brown's got a vision. The only problem is it's the Tory's. Laughing

Well Labour keep stealing it. Glad you are now supporting those blue rinse policies you objected to on Sunday. Maybe you have been down to the hairdressers!

I'm not supporting anybody (at least not that's obvious here) - and I'm not a supporter of the Brown government or the Blair government before it. But I do recognise a party that is bereft of credible policy or clear direction - and that's the one led by David Cameron.

No but I'd rather keep my hard earned money rather than give it to Brown and Darling to waste. The shocking record of them is that they have wasted billions by not reforming the public sector. The public sector exists for its staff as opposed to its customers. All Brown has done is make their beds a lot softer.

And in the last few weeks the cynicism of Brown has far exceeded anything Blair could achieve. At least Blair actually believed all trhe crazy guff he came out with. Brown is just trying to trick people. Even the BBC is saying so!

That was meant to be fired at Firewirefred' Tories were blamed for rewriting the same polices as Labour, now labour are doing it. They both have no vision on britain at present, and basically it's the blind leading the blind with no solid manifesto.
