The England midfielder - who only joined the American side in the summer - has struggled with injury since his arrival, only featuring in five games so far and had been linked with a winter spell back in England to allow him to find form and fitness ahead of the European Championships next summer.

But the club that paid £128 million to secure the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man over five years have insisted that he will be staying with his club.

"There will be no loan moves or short-term contracts," a club spokesman said. "He is under contract to the Galaxy."

Beckham, 32, had been subject to tabloid speculation regarding a link-up with former Manchester United team mate Roy Keane at Sunderland, although whether the player and his family would have considered a move to Wearside is unknown.

It can't be Hull City. Even with the new St Stephen's development, we don't have the shops.
