Lovely to hear 1966 today. Wayne Fontana, the Kinks and the Easybeats provided three of my favourite records of the whole era.

| For those who feel that POTP concentrates too heavily on the 60s can I recommend an alternative show - Not The Top 40 Show - which is broadcast on U105 every Sunday between 2pm and 6pm. They run through 2 charts each week and play around 75% of all tracks from the 2 Top 40s featured. Though they do cover the 60s its more usually the 70s and 80s - today for example was 1974 and 1986. Those not living in N Ireland can listen online at www.u105.com |

The shops do seem to stay open late over there on Sundays from what I can remember. I wish they would here on a Sunday! 
By the way, I quite often used to listen to Larry Grogan's Golden Hour on RTE 2FM. Not a bad show, actually! |

Yep, I listened to it too for a change (happened to be in the house at the time). Was interested as this was effectively the chart of my first Christmas - I would have been about two weeks old at the time!

I was actually referring to Natasha's signature! The shops here close at 6 I think and if you're in my hometown the "Not on a Sunday" brigade would have them shut all day if they could. Up to about 10 years ago anyone trying to trade on a Sunday would have found a prayer group on their doorstep. They even chained the swings up in the local park so as no-one could use them.
BTW Larry's still broadcasting on the afternoon show on 2FM and the Golden Hour is still going! |

I'm fed up with the "Save Sundays!" brigade. Times have changed and so has life. Why can't they? I daresay if they had their way, all shops would be open from 9-5, with half-day closing on Wednesdays and closed all-day Sundays. 
As for Larry Grogan, am I right in thinking he's the sole surviving member from the original RTE 2FM line-up? He must be popular to have lasted since 1979. Look at who we have on our Radio 2 for classic oldies! Dale Winton!  |

So am I. Thank heavens we have excellent quality radio to listen to on Sundays whilst the morons are listening to the same old rubbish elsewhere....

How true. There are now hundreds of alternative stations for those (who don't like the kind of music that's played the rest of the week) to listen to on Sundays.

Never mind. Radio 2 doesn't have Larry Grogan but it does have a range of broadcasters who are expert in their own fields and entertain their respective audiences. That's what's good about this thing called "diversity", as any intelligent person would no doubt agree.

| I think you're correct about Larry, Scott. The only other person that may have been there at the start would be U2's mate Dave Fanning but he was shifted over to Radio 1 a few months back. Larry must well on now ((in his mid 60s at least!) and yet he's still able to present an afternoon show on a pop station and is still pulling in the listeners. Quite a contrast to the BBC where these days you nearly have to be under 12 to get a job at the equivalent Radio 1! |

SF,
Pity Radio 2 have lost their equivalent to Larry Grogan (Alan Freeman, in my opinion). Why Dale Winton was chosen to host Pick of the Pops is beyond me. He's so dire! I reckon Larry Grogan himself would make a great host of the show but I guess that won't happen. For starters, he's not a celebrity with a big ego! |

Sabre Dance by Love Scuplture (aka Dave Edmunds) on now. I remember wishing I could play a guitar like that at the tender age of 9! Still wishing the same now! |
