Chris Evans has guaranteed that Drive time will be better than ever right up to Christmas Eve.

I'll say it now to get it out of the way...

Well... it can't be any worse! Laughing

(I actually don't mind his show, but I bet everyone else is thinking it)

What happens after Christmas Eve? Does he move to breakfast and Stuart Maconie succeeds him on Drivetime from January 2008? One could hope!

He's guaranteed it? Shall we take out a class action against him when we find that we're still bored to tears with his childishness and unbelievable frivolity?

I would take his guarantee with a pinch of salt if I were you. Wink

I must agree ernie even Evans could not, IMHO, exceed his achievement in perfecting the most childish, inane, egotistical, boring, irritating and loud drivelling show on R2.

The difference being that Evans is paid a lot of money by the BBC in exchange for his inane drivel.

I agree. That's what we're forced to do, in fact (for our sanity as much as anything else). It's such a shame that so much money is wasted, though.

Still, we don't have open web pages either, do we!

Why do you think that everything the BBC produces should be geared towards your tastes?

Yes but the money is not wasted if the show brings enjoyment to others besides you.

Do you think I want to pay for Stuart Maconie?

It's interesting that Chris made a lot of digs at Jonathan Ross the other day - clearly he also has opinions on where his money is being wasted!

But it's being wasted in my opinion. That's the point.

If you prefer unremitting childishness and frivolity coming out of your speakers at driveltime that's your choice. If you don't like Stuart Maconie that's fine by me. But in my opinion the BBC is wasting large amounts of licencepayers' money on rubbish like Evans, Woss and Brand.

You have your opinion - which you are free to express - and I have mine, which I'm also free to express. So when somebody posts a comment like "Chris Evans guarantees to be better than ever" I'm free to add something to the effect that it can't surely be that difficult!

We could all jump on the bandwagon now and state that X, Y and Z are a waste of money. I still protest against Jonathan Ross being paid £18m. No entertainer in my opinion is worth that much.

Wossy should be made to work for his money. Methinks next time Terry Wogan is away, Wossy should front breakfast. Mind you, I did enjoy Wossy's two stints on the show.

I don't think Woss wants to do a daytime show (I really would switch off for good if he did breakfast - that would just cap it for me and many other people), as he'd have to clear the decks of all the other stuff he does - bearing in mind that he has his weekly Tv show (recorded on Thursdays), his Film 08 programme (weekly) and lots of other special documentary series about either film stars or comic book heroes, so he's pretty busy.

And would he want to get up at that ridiculous hour for two weeks? Johnnie Walker seems to enjoy it, but I think Woss would hate it.

Like anything to do with CE, as you believe the sun shines out of his backside, you are happy to spin and misquote other peoples opinions. He is, IMHO, childish, inane, egotistical, boring, irritating and spouts loud drivel. If this is perfection in his radio show, then Bob Harris & JW have easily exceeded perfection, as did SM while sitting in on Drivetime.

In the past, I have heard Wossy mention that he gets up very early in the morning. He feeds the cats and gets breakfast ready for everyone. He said most mornings he's up just after 6am.

I don't think he is worth £18m and I don't think we get anything special from him. He is being paid an extortionate amount of money for not doing much at all.

In defence of Ross - the £18m (if it's even that, which I doubt) covers him and his production company making series for the BBC. So it also pays the wages of all the people who work on his programmes and thus have jobs because of his popularity (eg Andy is paid by Jonathan for his services on Saturday).

So, while high, it's not as bad as the press make out: the BBC get hundreds of hours of programming a year from him.

My gripe with it is that it's not exclusive: Ross should be barred from presenting shows on other channels, such as the ITV Comedy Awards.

Oh lighten up. It was a joke.

Not quite as often as you blow his trumpet for him; and talking about trumpets, a ragman's springs to mind. Wink

I suggest you learn to count. I rarely mention him these days apart unless Statler & Waldorf start off on one of their routines.

Alastair Stewart for Drivetime! Very Happy

I remember that thread being extremely popular on the old Radio 2 board! A lot of people supported my idea of Stewpot replacing Chris Evans!

I think Alasatir Stewart would be awesome on Drivetime! No shouting, no juvenile behaviour, and no puerile nonsense! Just proper, top quality presentation! I bet his bantering with Sally Traffic would also be quite hot!

You should see the way Alastair leers at his female co-hosts on London Tonight, the dirty old dawg! Cool

I think Alastair Stewart would look kind of cute on the Radio 2 webcam dressed in his posh suit and tie! He's a very traditional broadcaster! Very Happy

I am liking the idea of this...Speed Home with Stewpot. Let's just forget about his previous drink-driving offence in London! Laughing
