It's not a flaw whatsoever. Chris Evans does not call the shots on Radio 2 - Lesley Douglas does. Just because he likes Sarah Kennedy that doesn't mean she will remain where she is stagnating the airwaves at 6am like she has done these past 14 years. Her format ahead of Chris' would not work. She blends in OK with Wogan's format but certainly wouldn't with Evans'.

When Wogan leaves the breakfast format will most probably undergo a major revamp, with the breakfast show being extended and brought into line with most other breakfast shows out there. Whoever succeeds Wogan won't satisfy the audience and a fair amount of controversy will be caused. My guess is either Chris Evans or Jonathan Ross will take over the breakfast show. Sarah Kennedy's daily dose of depressing drivel won't fit in any longer when the breakfast show is given the major revamp it needs.

It's about time that old crone was pensioned off. At least Wogan still sounds like he's got years left in him and doesn't sound depressing on the radio. My only gripe is his tired breakfast format, which is probably why he's lost more listeners. Like I said previously, Wake Up to Wogan hasn't been the same since Paul Walters stepped down in early 2006.

Thanks for the info. Is there a way to find out whether audiences for individual programmes are going up or down? I'd particularly like to know this in respect of some of the specialist programmes.

Ian.

This would explain why Lesley Douglas sacked Richard Baker! Cool

Or have the audiences started dying off? It's a possibility.
