The target of an alleged blackmail plot against the Royal Family was not a senior figure, the BBC understands.

Buckingham Palace has refused to discuss the report in the Sunday Times, which said the case involved allegations of drugs and sex.

The clues are in the story.

For example, minor royal, hints of a gay sex act and mention that in 1891 Edward VII discussed paying off two prostitutes.

But the reputation of the man who in 1901 would become Edward VII has been known about for decades.

Hmmm. I'd have thought none of the Queen's children could be counted as "minor Royals" which surprises me as I thought the story was about Andrew. Allegedly. Probably Wink
