I'm surprised Mark Occomore hasn't already mentioned this on here!

Richard Allinson will be sitting in for Johnnie Walker this coming Sunday.

(Cue endless speculation that Richard Allinson is being groomed for a Sunday slot - possibly Parky's) Wink

Nothing listed on the website or RT? Did he say something at the end of last nights show?

Johnnie announced it at the end of his show last night. The news made me smile from 'ere to 'ere.

Going back to the days when he did only cover Sundays.

The only Sunday cover I ever heard Richard Allinson do was when he sat in for Ed Stewart for 2 weeks in October 2004. Has he ever sat in for Steve Wright on Sunday Love Songs?

I do believe Richard Allinson sat in for Desmond Carrington once.

He used to be his regular cover!! There's not many shows he hasn't covered. I think weekends would be his ideal slot for a full-time show?

Yes I am still struggling a little bit with jet lag-Brisbane to Singapore 7.5 hr flight , 3 hours wait at Singapore Airport and then a 14 hour flight from Singapore to Heathrow.

These long flights take it out of you for you sure.

Still I perked up a bit when Scott posted about Richard Allinson being back on Radio 2 this coming Sunday.

Going via the Moon isn't the best route, Marko.

I'm surprised on the comments on the last 2 posts on this thread.

UK to Australia via Singapore or vice versa is a very popular route-you can go via Hong Kong or South Korea but they are all very similar in length of flying time.

Our flight into Heathrow was the first one of the day-planes are not allowed to land before 4.30am so the 14 hours or so from Singapore is a little bit longer than a flight would be later in the day. Interestingly on the way out -UK to Singapore the flight was only 12.50hrs-the wind was in our favour apparantly.

On the way out flew with Qantas-excellent airline if I may say.

Singapore to Heathrow was with BA-rubbish customer experience-no wonder so many people hate them.

Shame his stay isn't a permanent one. Richard Allinson would be excellent on Sundays.

I remember when I conducted a poll on the old Radio 2 board asking posters who they would much rather hear on a Sunday morning: Michael Parkinson or Richard Allinson. Most opted for Richard Allinson. Clearly, they had good taste.

Answer 1: Yes

Answer 2: It's much more expensive, as more carriers go the Far East route for stopovers in either Hong Kong or Singapore.

There. That's that sorted.

Who said we were mates?! Twisted Evil Imagine us two driving home together at 5pm. We would end up having a fight over who to listen to. He would want Chris Evans on whereas I would opt for something decent! End result would be a fight - and the car crashing! Very Happy

That wouldn't happen in my car Scott. At 5 pm it would be a drive home with Chris Evans and a passenger or a drive home with Chis Evans and somewhere to put my handbag.

100% agree with you Rachel.

You are clearly a woman with good taste.

Homophobic abuse.

Paul, please consider taking the appropriate action. I would ask John but he condones abuse on this forum. Rolling Eyes

ernie/gfloyd, please remove the reference to handbag now.

If I have to remove it then a warning will be applied.

Anyway back on topic.

Really looking forward to hearing Richard back on Radio 2 this coming Sunday.

He's certainly in good form this week on BFBS Radio 2-his daily shows are absolutely brilliant.

Cannot wait for Sunday.

He's done this before only to Cover SW, but seems to not cover the 2-5pm slot anymore?
