What you think of the idea to cut speed in built up areas to 20 MPH ? I sure this would curb people to slow down? The problem with cutting speed is you could be going 2 miles at 40 MPH then cut speed down to 20 MPH, then speed up to 40 MPH,and so on in countryside, built up areas.. I have known this to happen, and it does in the Sussex area..

I'm impressed that all the speed indicators turn to red when you mention them as well, MarkY,

Honestly Mark, you're so touchy! I'm merely fascinated that you should highlight the mileages with a red colour text - perhaps to help those who don't know what mileage indicators look like?

You tell me. Honestly, you whinge at people for having a go at you but think about it...... Rolling Eyes

I was only highlighting the mileage in red. I wasn't trying to indicate what colour the dash board lights should be in your car. Laughing I think they are black with white numbers and light up when the headlight are on? Unless you have a super expensive top of the range car then I wouldn't know how the dash board lights up. Laughing

marc, it's like that on the M6 Rolling Eyes

Reduction in speed can save lives, but 20 is very slow and humps force me down to that speed to protect my wheels ans stuff in the boot. I recall some USA cities have limits in some streets at 25mph.

Yes, though the toll road is a bit pricey now, but at peak times it can save up to 1 hour.

Mark must be as hacked off as me, although in my part of Sussex you don't need to look at the interior of the car as there are all these signs flashing (in ORANGE) reduce speed now.
As I turn from my side road I see a sign allowing 40mph which becomes a sign allowing 20 mph within the next 150 metres. It's bordering on dangerous.
On second thoughts Mark must be a lot more annoyed than I am as he drives professionally

the trouble is, those who speed in a 30 zone dont respect the law of the road so lowering the speed limit will only slow the likes of me down. it wont make a bit of difference to the people who daily exceed every speed limit they enter. they only brake sharply for speed cameras. Rolling Eyes

if you want to make a difference why not introduce zero tolerance and enforce it to the letter. until then expect the usual crowd to carry on regardless of what you lower the limit to Evil or Very Mad

Why do all school minibus drivers drive at 20mph, even on fast roads? Rolling Eyes

For your info, Mark, some of us LOVE speed! It keeps the weight off! Laughing

You misquoted, Scott. It should have read "20mph". Follow the style-guru's rules!
