Crikey! that must have been very scary for everyone. I'm glad there were no serious injuries but it's terrible that some people may lose their homes.

On the news, they said that inch for inch, the UK has more Tornado's that anywhere in the world. I have to admit that that totally shocked me.

Apparently we have around 30 tornados every year most take barn roofs off and happen in open spaces, and not many resendital except the one in Birmingham. Not many are reported, But global warming isn't the reason why we get these.

The Moray Coast gets them every year, and has done as far as I can remember. Most happen at sea, and are known to sailors as 'waterspouts'

I dont think anyone fully knows whether Global Warming is partly to blame, but even so, we are certainly in for some massive climatic changes, and many of us will NOT survive :-

Looting Fears After Tornado Devastation
http://uk.news.yahoo.com/08122006/140/looting-fears-tornado-devastation.html

I cant even bring myself to even start to imagine what it must be like for these people.
I do hope that no one is mean enough to start looting, but I wont hold my breath whilst we live in a world where so many bad things happen.

Please keep these ppl in your thoughts, and if you have Faith... in your prayers as well.

Very Happy

Yes, I do sympathise with those affected - I sat watching the coverage on News 24 last night wondering 'what if that was me'?

Plenty of tornadoes occur in the UK each year, though - it's nothing new, and most don't do as much damage as the one yesterday. Some are really small - I've seen hay swirling around a field before in a mini-version and waterspouts are apparently fairly common around our shores.

Global warming appears to be a rather convenient scapegoat or 'label' for a lot that goes on at the moment. While I'm happy to re-cycle and do only necessary journeys, I think some things are just down to Mother Nature having a bit of a stretch now and again. Look at the Carlisle floods last year - the city has flooded that way several times over the last 100 years but mass communications didn't exist then, so no wall-to wall coverage.
