The above biog is interesting despite the cockup in reference to Keith West's Excerpt From A Teenage Opera. I assume Richard Wiseman was watching 'This Is Spinal Tap' the night before as he names the hero of West's song Saucy Jack, not Grocer Jack!

Saucy Jack was in Nigel Tufnel's rock opera about Jack The Ripper!

Wiseman compares Dee's attitude as a presenter to Simon Cowell as well as to Jonathan Ross, but the way he wanted to fiddle with the format of the show brought Chris Evans circa TFI Friday to my mind.

The later switch to LWT and the awful scheduling of his show made me feel that he would have had better luck in the era of video recorders.

Now you've got me singing ''What ever happened to Randolph Scott?' by The Statler Brothers! He was a Western film star for the benefit of our younger readers! Laughing

Randolph Scott also reminds me of the 'You'd do it for Randolph Scott' scene from Blazing Saddles!

I know of the Statler Brothers best for 'Flowers On The Wall'.

Further on in the Dee book I can see that Steve Coogan must have followed the presenter's misfortunes closely: Alan Partridge must have been inspired by him. The picture of Dee with his first wife could be Partridge and Lynn!
