As a fan of Celebrity Come Dancing, I was quite saddened to hear of the death of Kelly Brook's father just as she was doing so well.
Apart from the obvious shock to her of losing her dad, she must now face an awkward decision as to whether to continue in the competition? ( I gather she is )
But I wonder if the public will now be tempted to give her the sympathy vote which isn't fair to the others... _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

well she has now pulled out.
she must have read your thread and realised her cunning plan had been rumbled.
sympathy vote
people vote for the person anyway not the dancing
you ask mel b
just remember the poor girl has just lost her father. she wanted to continue for him but found it too hard. playing on the publics heartstrings would be the LAST thing on HER mind. _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Seymour, I wasn't insinuating she would rely on, or even need a sympathy vote, in fact she was my favourite to win up until last week when I have to admit Elisha pipped her for sure.
As the show is fraught with personality voting, I was wondering if a section of the public would be tempted to vote for her for "carrying on" in the circumstances. But as you say, she's decided to pull out now which is the right thing to do.
Hopefully she'll return next series. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

my bad sff.
i obviously misread the intonation in your last sentence.
i agree that asking the public to vote on these things is NEVER going to reflect talent, just popularity. _________________ "Timpani!, Timpani!, They've all got it Timpani!"- All drummers know the pain of skin trouble. |

Yes, I'm not sure whether public voting is such a good idea.
I would be tempted to vote for what I thought was the most catchy and rhythmic routine ( When Elisha came out dancing to Beyonce's fantastic "Crazy In Love", that rang my bell straight away! ) but I wouldn't know the technical details to look out for obviously.
Len was on Take 2 yesterday pointing out individual heel & toe steps which is what they look for. Joe Public wouldn't have a clue on that score.
Maybe next series they should go back to judges only voting?
I thought Kelly was heaven to watch and progressing great but I've noticed many of my female friends are very scathing towards her for some reason! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

When it comes to awarding the points, I can imagine someone holding up a card to the judges saying 'Assume deadpan expression', then, after a minute, another saying 'Show score card after hearing your name read out in full'. I wonder how near the truth that is! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
