What are people doing over the holiday?

We're mostly at home, though our son and daughter-in-law are having us to tea on Christmas Day.

Everyone is coming to us on 28 December.

We will probably grandson-sit on New Year's Eve.

On Christmas Eve we're taking the older grandson (4) to the Gateshead Sage to see the Snowman, with music courtesy of the Northern Sinfonia. The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens is also on the programme.

How about you?

Ian.

We are also mainly at home with a possible run to the coast (approx 15 miles away) to clear out the cobwebs.

We're entertaining family at home this year - there'll be seven, plus two sproglets, and a Border Terrier (and she'll be the least trouble of the lot!).

Probably to my mum's on New Year's Day; my son's the tall dark handsome one and he is usually her first foot.

I knew as I was writing that that I was asking for sarcasm!

Would indeed love to have you all but I don't think our housekeeping budget will stretch that far.

Oh blast! Was just about to make a dozen mince pies and unearth a bottle of Rhubarb wine (1992 vintage) to bring along.

My 85 year old father-in-law has joined us for five weeks over Christmas and New Year. His day seems to consist of eating breakfast, falling asleep, eating lunch, falling asleep, eating dinner, falling asleep.

Our days seems to be spent quietly opening doors, checking that his chest is rising and falling, and tiptoe-ing off to prepare for Christmas. It doesn't get any better than this. Laughing

Oh, I forgot. He wakes up in the evening and whupps us at cards. Rolling Eyes
