Slightly ashamed to say he is one artist who has hitherto manged to pass under my radar, partly because, although a highly prolific, respected and successful singer/songwriter in the USA, he is distinctly under-rated and under-played on radio over here (even Bob Harris has only played him eight times over the last ten years, though I suspect he might add to that count come his next show).

A good summary of his career is found on allmusic - http://wc05.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:0ifixqe5ldje~T1

I remember the title song of Nether Lands being played a lot on Andy Peebles' show on Radio 1: also Leader Of The Band was on Steve Wright's show a lot in the late 70's/early 80's.

Same Old Lang Syne was a song that would always get played in the run-up to New Year's Day. It was more of a turntable hit than a hit proper. This would have been around the time Simon Mayo would play 'Hymn' (Barclay James Harvest) on his last show before Christmas.

More recently, the US progressive rock band Glass Hammer covered Longer.
