Great to listen to a civilised Drivetime tonight, especially the conversation re the virtues of eating Roadkill!
BB, heard you got a mention at around 1720.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I missed BB's mention though, I'll listen again later tonight if it's availabubble. _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

It was lovely! Even HWMBO(listening from another room) said "isn't that Barkingbiker person from your R2OK website". And he hardly ever looks in, or maybe he's checking up on me! But it was nice to see someone thanking people who have been a support at a time of need. Rock on BB, and a hope the coming year is brighter. |

Yes, great dedication BB, I heard it on listen again. Nice one.

I don't need to shout I'm barking you know, most of my customers already know, "I've always been crazy, but it's stopped me from going insane". (Quote from Waylon Jennings).

Another cracking show tonite, I am really enjoying these shows, just how Drivetime should be, IMHO. Thanks Bob.

Couldn't agree more. A shame that Bob isn't the permanent presenter of Drivetime, but then he wouldn't have the time to play all his new favourite tracks on his Saturday night show. |

Could you imagine the reaction if he was, and played the sort of stuff he gets away with on a weekend? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Come to think of it, I'd like to see Bob filling in as holiday cover for Drivetime more often, not just Christmas. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

It wouldn't worry me, but I guess it would be too 'different' for most of the listeners who Ms Douglas is aiming Radio 2 at these days. |

Agreed. Well, Bob or Stuart Maconie. And Mark Radcliffe filling in for Wright on a permanent basis too please! |

Isn't R2 the station 'where different works' or is that history now? _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

You are probably right Arcader & Cherskiy, but just maybe if we email in and tell them how good we think Bob has been and not complain, it might strike a note. No I think you are right, but I will email in anyway.

I Followed the link from the BBC home page last night, not had any acknowledgement though, not even an automated reply like you always get when you email in to any R2 show.
Great show again tonite, just wish Drivetime was like this every night.

Thanks, BB - I'll make sure I do the same this weekend.
At the very least it'll give the boss(es) some idea of how Bob is appreciated. _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I sent Bob an email yesterday (at his BBC address) basically saying great job on Drivetime, hope you'll do it again soon, and he replied (no, not the automated 'robot' reply that happens with all emails sent to the Beeb, but an actual reply from Bob himself)! What a nice guy - I've complimented a few other presenters in the past, but this is the first time anyone has bothered to send a personal reply.
Thanks Bob! |

You are so right Arcader, he is the most genuine guy on radio, he emailed me twice this week and has done so before, he actually apologised for not doing my request last Saturday night.

For a busy radio presenter, Bob should be commended for taking the time to personally reply to our e-mails of support. I also received a personal e-mail thanking me both for my message and the time I spend doing the reviews of his Saturday Show each week - proof that at least one current R2 presenter reads this board.
As BB says, a truly genuine chap.... _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

Didn't get a reply off Bob himself this time (I have in the past though) but I did get this response to my 'send praise' message.
Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Drivetime' on Radio 2.
I understand you enjoyed this programme and would like to hear Bob Harris on the programme all the time.
We are very grateful to you for sharing your appreciative comments with us. Whilst we value feedback, we are especially pleased to hear that people are enjoying our programmes.
Please be assured that your comments have been registered on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily for all programme makers and commissioning executives within the BBC, and also their senior management. It ensures that your points, and all other comments we receive, are circulated and considered across the BBC.
It is always a boost for programme makers to read positive comments about their work.
Thank you again for contacting the BBC.
This was my original massage

This was my response:
"Thank you for your e-mail regarding 'Bob Harris'.
We are always delighted to receive such positive feedback from our listeners.
I can assure you that I have made your kind comments available, through our daily log, to the programme schedulers along with senior BBC management. All feedback is highly valued by the BBC and serves to aid in the decision making process on the future of BBC programming and services.
It is always a boost to programme makers to read appreciations from the public, for the work they have put into programmes.
I hope that you will continue to listen to BBC productions and may I thank you, once again, for taking the time to contact us"
Will it do any good? Who knows, but I did my bit for a guy that takes the time to "hook in" to his listeners. |
