..have you registered yet ?
I like the way the public contestants will be asked 3 questions BEFORE they are allowed on to prove they know something about music, a pity they didn't do that for the celebrities, they could have saved us some painful radio |

Not about the jingle, but I enjoy the quiz if I'm around.
Yes we know what you think of Ken Bruce Mark, but a lot of us enjoy the show!

I like Ken Bruce but to be honest I can take or leave popmaster. Having said that I'm glad it's back, it should never have been removed in the first place really. |

I don't mind old Kenny B either, although he is a little err... safe and harmless.
Since the fantastic Pirate broadcasts last year, I've maybe realised how bored I'd got with some of Radio 2's presenters.
Of course Steve Wright keeps the station alive with his dynamic style and non stop fun and, as I only listen during the daytime, Radio 2 is still the best option for me. That is until 5pm when it's over to Planet Rock and hopefully Rick Wakeman who has me laughing with his risque comment and jokes. I wish he was on Radio 2.
As for Pop Master, I'm just glad it'll be an end to these "know nothing" celebs! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
I have heard how radio should be. |

I agree about Rick Wakeman, grumpy old fart that he is, but very entertaining IMHO. However, I think you put your rose tinted glasses back on before commenting about SW though

I think popmaster is better formated now. It's how a Radio quiz should sound. |

Review in the Guardian:
Heralded by an especially toe-curling trail last week, PopMaster was yesterday reunited with Ken Bruce (Radio 2). "As if it was going to be fixed for that kind of prize," one listener emailed in, referring both to quiz-fixing scandals and the paltry winnings on offer from this mid-morning music challenge.
It returned with new jingles that sound more modern than the old ones, but, with their perky robotic quality, still come across as about 20 years out of date. The contestants on yesterday's show were a classic PopMaster pairing: one endearingly square (Kev), one sardonic and gruff (Carl). Kev said everything in playful, with-an-exclamation-mark glee ("drat!"). Carl was so moody and curt, it came as quite a surprise to hear him say: "I work in a bakery. I make puff-pastry products."
Carl won, but Kev didn't really mind. He just wanted signed photos, he explained to Bruce with a worrying intensity, "of everyone on Radio 2. All the presenters. Except Steve Wright." Carl was still recovering from the indignity of being asked a question about Gareth Gates' No 1 hits. "Yeah," he grimaced, as if "yeah" really meant dark, wicked and deeply vengeful thoughts. "Huh. Not a great fan." |

I must be out of practice but I did dreadfully yesterday--3 in the first round and 9 in the second! I don't think I'll be competing on air any time soon.

They were hard questions yesterday Ian. I did know some though.
I think they are all taking it a bit too seriously though and need to lighten up!. The loser mentioned above and at least one of the others sounded like they were really mad that they'd lost. It's only a game!
