He is big enough to be a stop gap for most positions. Laughing

Oh no! I hope this isn't permanent? I can't stand the bloke. I'd rather keep Clive, he's doing ok... Sad

Quite. Oh cripes, what a disaster this will be - from the intelligent, likeable and witty Clive to the dull (in every sense of the word) Holmes.

Chalk up another bad move from that blasted Lesley Douglas. Evil or Very Mad

I've never liked Holmes on the TV, why on earth would I expect him to be any better on the radio?

I'd love the producer to put in some songs by Dream Theater if he starts rattling on about the Manchester football stadium as 'the theatre of dreams' again!

First time he did it on GMTV I said 'I didn't know they were Mancunian'!

There is a rumour doing the rounds that Holmes contract with Sky News may not be renewed. If it isn't, you may be hearing a lot more of him on Radio 2 Wink

Try as I might, I can't get away with his Saturday morning show on R5Live between 0900 and 1100 - maybe it's because he comes across (to me at least) as being rather smug and patronising. Will he be any different on R2?

I think Eamon would be the ideal replacement for Wogan? It leaves him to host other things on the BBC. He would only have an hour to get from Radio 2 to host This Morning with Wifey when they are covering for Phil and Fern.

I don't like Eamonn Holmes on either radio or television but love Richard Allinson, they aren't in the least bit similar......

No Mark.

Richard Allinson is only 50% English-he's also 50% Scottish.

Helen-I know exactly what you are saying.

Richard Allinson is a superb professional presenter/DJ-certainly one of the best around.

Not sure about Eamonn Holmes though-he must be very good to land a Radio 2 gig. Clearly Lesley Douglas rates him.

According to a posting at Digital Spy, someone at R2 has said Eamonn Holmes is only doing the Sunday am slot during February, and that may explain why the R2 press office pages make no mention of a permanent presenter.

If he's just temporary, they should keep Clive on - he's been brilliant. I normally only hear the show from 12.30, but since Clive started myself and my girlfriend have been tuning in from the start. He's good company on a Sunday lunchtime, while Holmes is a bland lump.

Is the station going to do what Have I Got News For You' do and have a rotation of broadcasters covering the Sunday slot?

Is it a coincidence that Eamon Holmes will feature on Ken Bruce's Tracks of My Years this week?

Good place to no doubt plug what I hope will only be a temporary stint.

As long as I don't have to hear him on fivelive. Personally. any one BUT Eamonn Holmes would be welcome in that slot ( except Wossy and Russell Brand)

Eamonn's Tracks of His Years don't seem to match the current sound of the 11am slot. In fact, it just seems like the same old stuff we get everywhere else. Oh joy.

Monday
In The Summertime ~ Mungo Jerry
Because You Loved Me ~ Celine Dion

Tuesday
Polk Salad Annie ~ Elvis Presley
Cum On Feel The Noize ~ Slade

Wednesday
Tiger Feet ~ Mud
Delilah ~ Tom Jones

Thursday
Ain’t Nobody ~ Rufus & Chaka Khan
Jackson ~ Johnny Cash & June Carter

Friday
Superstar ~ Jamelia
Beautiful Day ~ U2

Surely his Tracks Of My Years should feature:

Coward Of The County by Kenny Rogers
Run Runaway by Slade
Hide You by Kosheen
A Man I'll Never Be by Boston
Save Me by Queen
Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens by Louis Jordan

The temporary stint refers to his taking over what was the Parkinson show, not Tracks of my Years. I didn't think it needed explaining. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes
