I told Radio 2 that I don't think much of Eamonn Holmes (especially after Clive) and got the reply that "you can't please all of the people, all of the time." Wow, thanks for that...

I don't think they are pleasing anyone for even a little of the time at the moment.

I've lost the inclination to listen to very much at the moment. It's so much nicer just to switch it off and have some peace and quiet!

At risk of being 'off topic', Have a look at the 6 music message boards: http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/have_your_say/index.shtml The 'Feedback' one (equivalent to the old 'Shows & Music' R2 board) is full of protest messages about George Lamb (Never heard him myself, but sounds like a Russell Brand type) who has been put in place of Gideon Coe in the mornings. Very reminiscent of the R2 boards at the time when they turned Drivetime into 'Driveltime'. Mind you Radio 2 & 6 music do have the same controller Rolling Eyes

You never know. Freed from the trashy GMTV and gameshow format, and the frothy persona that goes with it, he might be quite good at engaging with his studio guests - as well as the usual paper and entertainment reviews he's got James Toseland (World Superbike Champion and pianist) as his first "victim".

The music will presumably be the same as usual. Let's wait and hear.

LEE

The principal thread about George Lamb, started by the hosts themselves, has just been closed, after 167 rather heated messages!

I've noticed the Radio 2 boards have had little interference from mods and hosts of late, now I know where they've gone!

When the mods do appear they start threads about shows that are up and coming on R2 (see the one on Alexis Corner), which if one of the posters started would be immediately closed with the message 'you are not allowed to talk about shows on R2'.............. One rule for them another for us.

I can't see the music remaining the same unless it is the same producer ie Anthony Cherry.

Breakfast is my treat
MAN OF THE PEOPLE
Eamonn Holmes
If you're reading this over breakfast, switch on Radio 2 and have a bit of chat and music from me in the background for the four Sundays of February.

That's on 88-91FM between 11.00am and 1pm, in the old Michael Parkinson slot. Details and what else I am up to are on my website Eamonn.tv.

========================
Holmes is promoting his radio show in his newspaper column and on his website www.eamonn.tv

Busy February and March for him. No mention of Magic London, but he's still listed on the website, but not in the schedules.

http://www.eamonn.tv/eamonn_holmes_flash.html

He does appear a lot either on your TV or Radio, but I in one big hit.

30 minutes in and not too bad.

I have certainly heard a lot worse before on Radio 2.

Too much sport for me have switched off. Missed start and heard about an hour.

Music seems to have stayed intact but the newspaper review veered a little bit too far into sport. Yes I know it's a big sports weekend but to then have a 'sporting guest'............. Sorry too much for a music station.

Could have arranged the guest list a bit better.

H

PS shame he couldn't put the correct time of the show on his webpage which says from 10.00 to midday................

Who is this motor cyclist and what's he doing on Radio 2? Stick him on 5 Live where sport belongs.

The music is not too bad but this is just GMTV for the radio.

Come back Clive, all is forgiven

He plays the piano as well. Although quite why we should only have a certain type of person as a guest on radio 2, which is more than just a music station btw, I dont get.

I must admit to bias as I have always preferred Clive Anderson to Parky, but I think E.H. is doing quite well.

There are so things I dislike about Holmes' personality but he did a much better show than I expected. Good music, laid back links, not much reference to Man Utd and 3 tracks by Buddy Holly!

I think some people will moan about everything unless its Walker, Allinson or Marconie presenting.

I think that was a little uncalled for.

Nah, just as I thought, I found him boring and just too GMTV. I turned him off.

Didn't do it for me, but didn't raise a great deal of antagonism either. Getting to be a lot like R2 these days - can take it or leave it. Crying or Very sad
