Sadly to announce that the entertainer Jeremy Beadle has died following short battle of pneumonia.
Very sad news as he appeared alongside Sarah Kennedy and Matthew Kelly on Game For a laugh and his great show Beadles about. |

Crikey. The link says he raised over £100m for charities associated with children & cancer throughout his lifetime. Thats quite an achievement. _________________ His name was ernie ........ and he drove the fastest milk cart in the west..... |

I believe he and Sarah were good friends so it's hardly suprising she's upset, I heard Henry Kelly on Sky news, he didn't sound too chipper either |

Shame. Never liked him on TV, but to go so young and such a nice man. |

I could listen to you all night..
It is a shame, I didn't mind him at all and I didn't know he was ill either.
Beadle's About was one of only a handful of shows I've ever tried to get home on time to see. Sad but true.
I suppose we'll be hearing "what a great guy he was" now from some of the creeps who've been slagging him off for the last 10 years! _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

She would be upset, as anyone who has worked with someone for any length of time would. She did say she last saw him a year ago, so they weren't that close. Henry Kelly was apparently still a close friend, though.
I never cared for his programmes. As is usually the way, charitable work never gets publicised, and it is a shame that the media and public scorn and villification that followed the demise of Game For A Laugh / Beadle's About was rarely balanced by mention of that, or of his personal health problems.
It sometimes irked him, and I believe he did take legal action a couple of times, but ultimately he took the philosophic view - "People feel guilty about enjoying the cruelty which is at someone else's expense. As I'm the instigator, they transfer their guilt onto me. But I say let them hate me, just as long as they watch me." And they did, in numbers that most of the comedians who mocked him could only dream of today.
The Telegraph's obituary page isn't working, the Independent appears to have seen fit to ignore him completely, so I'll post a link to the Times - http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article3279652.ece _________________ Ron |
